NES Classic Edition announced!

So, this has 30 games, a controller that can be used for Virtual Console games, and is only $60! Plugs into your TV by HDMI cables. Looks pretty great, especially for the price! These games are $2 a piece, compared to $5 on the Virtual Console. I'll pick this up on November 11 when it releases!

You can get an original NES with a lot of games plus two controllers and a zapper for $60.

Do not want.

Here's one for 69.99. I've seen cheaper on Craigslist too. Games can go for like a dollar to five bucks most of the time at a thrift shop.
http://m.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-NES-w...162?nav=SEARCH

Also, the NES by itself can go for as low as $30.

Honestly, I don't trust eBay for that kind of stuff. I only buy cheap action figures from there.

Well it could also be flea markets, yard sales, etc. But I can see how this version is more convenient.

Yes. Plus my TV only has HDMI output, which is what this uses.

It's certainly not a bad value if you don't have a NES and want to dive into some great classic games. I've got most of the originals listed here already, so I'll pass, but I like that they're doing this. I've said for years that Nintendo should reproduce the NES console on the cheap, and this is the next best thing. And based on my Facebook feed the day it was announced, there should be a lot of interest.

I'm mostly excited about the controller, though. I'll have to pick that up for Virtual Console NES games.

I think they should have allows the capability to play your own game paks on it like the genesis Sega rereleased a while ago.

Yes, or just what Bry said, rerelease the NES altogether. But with HDMI ports and improved sound perhaps.

The sound on mine was pretty good, the virtual console games are a little fuzzy compared to the real thing.

Really? I've heard the sound isn't the best on NES.

Yeah the quality is more crisp and clear on the NES. Also, virtual console make the games really faded and puts kinda dark tint on the games. For example, an orange on the original looks more brown on the virtual console.

And now Wisdom Tree Games wants to capitalize on the retro-clone console market!

I'd be more stoked for a "Super NES Classic Edition."

Interesting idea, though.

A bunch of these games can already be found on the eShop on the Wii U.

For $5 a game, and these are $2 a game.

$5 a game still isnt bad. I'd only buy this just for the controller.
