I respect what FW cartoon did for the turtles franchise but it is the most overrated and hard to watch of the 3 turtles cartoons.

I don't think that was the reason it was being pitched, it's just what they were going to use as the exclusives. And they wouldn't look like those if their pitch was successful; they were the prototypes/proofs-of-concept.

Sounds like that was definitely the case.

The Robby Musso promotional art is definitely the best part. The guy who first posted the stuff on Facebook confirmed that the figures were just painted mock ups. Beyond the concept, there would have been new sculpts which would have looked much more like Russo's artwork.

I'm not sure how "official" this idea ever was, but I really am curious about the idea and wonder if it had any connection to the Tim Hill, "April O'Neil Files" pilot that was reported around late 2015.
