R-rated Marvel movies would not be out of the question under Disney. They DO have studios that make r-rated films under their umbrella already so it's not impossible for Deadpool to keep his rating in the MCU. It would actually be pretty frigging hilarious for him to keep dropping F bombs or engaging in mayhem and mutilation while Cap or Spidey is shocked by his language and penchant for violence. Quite frankly, he's more fun when he can play off of the more "prudish" heroes.

Disney isn't buying Fox to put content on Netflix. This play for content (which is what the Fox purchase would be) is for their streaming service to compete with Netflix.

Kind of like how Marvel let Disney make its Big Hero 6 animated movie, which doesn't tie into the MCU.
What? If Disney owns Fox they can't tell Fox what to do?

Disney lets Marvel Studios do there thing, Disney lets Lucasfilm do there thing, so what I can see happening, is 20th Century Fox will continue what they are doing with their movies.

I doubt it would happen, but imagine what it would be like if Deadpool appeared at Disney Parks. It certainly wouldn't be the happiest kid-friendly place on Earth.

You guys don't realize that this would be awful? The fanservice of finally having X-Men in the MCU is not worth it.

And it doesn't matter, it's not happening. CNBC did a lousy job with the original story but we now know those talks didn't go through which is great. I was worried because these things only leak out after they're a done deal or it's not happening anymore, CNBC reported as if it could happen but it's pretty much not going to happen now.

I don’t see why it would be awful for Disney to own a lot of properties or franchises. They do a good job running thier stuff.

I’m most curious what would happen to the Simpsons and Family Guy. There’s no way FG could be under any form of Disney...right? I don’t think Seth Macfarlane would allow it. I wonder if Fox would keep thier cartoons since they’ve been so successful for them.

Even if the Simpsons ends at 30 it’s bound to continue with movies, holiday specials or some reboot later on. A Disney Simpsons would very interesting.

Anti-monopoly laws would prevent Disney from being able to own two broadcast channels at the same time, and since they already own ABC they would not be able to purchase the Fox channel and its shows, only the movie production arm of Fox. At least if I understood the article correctly.

Disney owns many brands outside the kid friendly stuff that you know, they just don't release movie names under those other company names even if it's owned by Disney. Think ESPN, do you think of Disney when you hear that? Because it's owned by disney, they just don't brand it as such. Fox would've been like |Touchstone Pictures for example so Family Guy, The Simpsons would've all done just fine.

Monopolies stifle innovation, that's why you don't want Disney owning everything, this is a proven economics theory.

I know ABC, ESPN and others stuff is owned by Disney. I just wasn’t clear on the article.

I guess it lowers competitiveness for some stuff if they’re under the same company but if those things continue to thrive and are good quality I don’t mind that.

There will always be other companies/competitors doing thier own thing.

Say Disney buy fox very soon, do you think they will cancel the up coming X-men film? I should think they would want to totally recast/ and reboot the series.

Way, way too late to do that.

Unfortunately.

I think bringing X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool to the MCU would be totally worth it, it would make the MCU 10x bigger.

There are characters from the X-Men who are full fledge members of the Avengers, Beast being one of them, he prefers being an Avenger then an X-Men, cause people don't feel him when he's an Avenger like they do when he's with the X-Men.

And they could do a version of the Avengers vs X-Men story from the comics.

Bringing Fantastic Four to the MCU would also be huge, they would be able to use Doctor Doom as the big bad for Phase 4, and then if they do Phase 5, Galactus.

It'd just drag down slightly more mature characters with the safe stale quippy s*it those movies are known for.

I hope one day people realize the MCU has never been worth it.

I cannot get on board with the prospect of Disney slowly taking over all entertainment. It would be truly awful to have one group in charge of all movies TV etc.

According to CNBC’s sources, should a deal be made, Disney would not purchase all of 21st Century Fox, which currently includes the Fox Entertainment Group (which owns both the Fox film studio and Fox television network), plus the pan-Asian pay channel operator Star TV. Per sources, Disney would not buy the television network, any sports programming assets, or the Fox News and Business channels. CNBC also notes that Disney would also not purchase Fox’s local broadcasting affiliates.
