That is the perfect analogy!

At this point, I hope he just ends up doing a web series in the "mutant of the week" format. Maybe have one or two Turtles at a time going up against one or multiple villains with a supporting character or two (Splinter, April, Casey, Fugitoid, etc.) Could be simple, fun,and not too ambitious... probably the wisest course of action at this point to make use of all those character designs and still get something on film.

That does indeed sound like the best way to go about it, yeah! It'd keep people's attention, continued use of the resources, plenty of time to give each costume/character it's fair due etc.

I really want this to happen now.

Something in the vein of Bat in theSun's "Super Power Beat Down Series" where the viewer gets dropped into the middle of a fast-paced action sequence without having to worry about too much buildup would be ideal... and maybe necessary to make worthwhile use of all those characters and costumes.

They are gonna shoot a trailer next year, and do another fundraiser for it on Kickstarter.

I'm going to shoot a trailer with all the characters early next year. In April I will do another fundraiser on kickstarter, it's do or die if I Can't raise the money expecially showing something with all the charecters, then I have no choice but to abandon the project. I have original scripts and charecters I need to focus on.

That's gonna be what, the fourth fundraiser they're gonna attempt to do?

Is it still a "passion project" if you quit after making all the costumes because people won't pay you to make the thing you said you'd make whether or not they did?

Seems like a huge waste of time to throw in the towel at that point.

I think the best thing for him to do would be to reduce the number of characters. Less money and people needed then. Make a movie about the core characters and save guys like the Triceraton, Fugitoid, Usagi Yojimbo and Armaggon for a potential sequel. Or sell the costumes for those guys to get more money for the project.

I assume the Turtles where finished before he started making the other costumes. Maybe a better approach is making shorts with the Turtles fighting one or two baddies per short then go wild over every TMNT character ever, marketing a Short at a time with a lower budget.

Looks like the Indiegogo only earned 4% of what he was looking for. I wonder if it's still going to happen.

Looks like this Scotty guy made a reply on Facebook:
""Blood Brothers" I'm going to do another funder raiser in April, if I can't raise the money then, all it will ever be is a fancy trailer"

I think it's safe to say it'll be a "fancy trailer". The project is way too ambitious and if I was going to invest any money into something like this, it would have to be top notch with a pleasing visual style. This just doesn't look that great to me.

Yeah in looking at the "film's" Facebook page, he updated with this photo....

...along with a comment.

So I did 2 fund raisers and only generated a couple thousand, didn't even cover materials to make a couple of these guys. Unless I can raise the full thirty grand I was hoping to get, I'm afraid a 2 or 3 min short is all I can afford to do.
I mean, all of this stuff looks nice...but it just seems like wayyyy too much effort and time into something that ultimately might not even add up to what your original ambitions may be.

I know this guy in particular has a good heart about it, but I'm really getting tired of these guys (and these are guys that have generally never been a part of the actual online fandom) that come out of the woodwork with fan projects like this and Dawn of the Ninja folks, maybe even that dude's "Come to my super cool Vanilla Ice TMNT party!" that are all about, "Look! Give me your money! My project has got everything that TMNT fans want! EVERYBODY will be happy!"

No it doesn't. No, they won't. Just make your project and don't pretend or profess it to be something it's not. No 2 TMNT fans like the same crap, let alone a whole fandom. Douche.
