This was how many young people back in the days actually felt. A lof of young people went outside to protest against war, social injustice and famines. The Cold War had strict borders and just remember the Vietnam War.

Today, wars still exist, but less people care. Newspapers today just more cover Britney Spear's romances, just a small notice with wars and other problems.

Let's get back to the subject, and I'll do "Enter the Rat King".

Episode 27: Enter the Rat King
Written by: Francis Moss

Voice Cast:
Cam Clarke: Leonardo, Cab Driver
Townsend Coleman: Michaelangelo, Rat King
Jennifer Darling: Irma
Pat Fraley: Burne Thompson
Barry Gordon: Donatello
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Vernon Fenwick

Mistakes:
1. When the Turtles head for the Channel 6 building's window the strap around Donatello's bo is brown instead of gray.
2. April uses a Turtles/Splinter "stretch-style" Turtlecom instead of her circular turtlecom when she contacts them with it in the sewers.
3. When the Turtles are eating pizza, Donatello's bo and Leonardo's Kantanas disappear from their belts after the TV monitor goes static.
4. April's voice was not muffly when she was starting to remove her gag when she asked who the Rat King was.
5. Although Donatello mentions they wish they had those anti-gravity boots from episode 6 (Return of the Shredder), they actually appear in the episode "Sky Turtles", which is actually episode 23.
6. In April's dressing room, a post-it note on the wall written by the Rat King spells her last name as "O'Neill" instead of "O'Neil".
7. Just before the Turtles encounter the Rat King, Donatello's Bo changes color from brown to white, then flashes brown before turning white again.
8. The color configuration on the Rat King's soda bombs reverses from blue and red from top to bottom to red and blue after he says "bring her (April) back to the palace", and Irma says "Wait!"

Pizza References:
1. Splinter mentions that there is one box left of pizza, but it turns out to be a common sewer rat.
2. While searching for April, Michelangelo mentions that the sewers are emptier than a pizza pan after an attack of the midnight munchies.
3. The turtles are eating pizza in the kitchen near the end of the episode.

Catchphrase Countdown:
1. Michelangelo says "Cowabunga" and all say "Turtle Power!" upon leaving the Channel 6 studio for the sewers.
2. Raphael warns the turtles that they are Turtle Soup as Splinter affected by the Rat King's flute threatens to destroy the turtles.
3. Michelangelo calls Irma a Dudette.

Pop Culture References:
1. The mighty hunter doll in the sewers is a reference to the 1940 Merrie Melodies short.
2. Leonardo mentions that it's a small world down in the sewers, a homage to the Disney song.
3. The Rat King was created as a take off on the 1965 movie, "King Rat", starring Richard Dawson as a military prisoner.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Raphael mentions that although rats upset him and his friends, he states that its a terrific dinner topic.
2. Vernon says "Shouldn't we get some professional help" when entering the sewers.
3. Michelangelo says, "you want to zoom that by us again?" when Leonardo shows the direction the Rat King's lair is located when the turtles reach the subway tracks.

Wacky Inventions:
1. The Rat King's rat-attracting flute
2. The Rat King's soda bombs
3. Donatello's Super Rodent Trap

Kidnapping:
April is carried away by the Rat King after her news report about rats.

Notables:
1. The first episode without Shredder.
2. First episode of the Rat King.
3. The third episode of five to begin its title with "Enter" followed by the character introduced.

Episode 28: Turtles at the Earth's Core
Written by: Michael Reaves

Voice Cast:
James Avery: Shredder
Cam Clarke: Leonardo, Rocksteady
Townsend Coleman: Michaelangelo
Pat Fraley: Krang
Barry Gordon: Donatello, Bebop
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael
Peter Renaday: Splinter*

Mistakes:
1. When the Turtles confront the Foot Soldiers on the way to attack Shredder and Krang, Raphael refers to them as "Rock Soldiers".
2. Donatello's bo is black instead of brown when the Turtles first encounter Dippy in the street.
*3. Shredder speaks in General Tragg's voice when he speaks to Krang on his comlink, despire Tragg never appearing officially in the episode.
4. The T-REX is drawn with three fingers, but in 1904, scientists discovered that the third skeletal finger is really the skeletal features of a second dinosaur.
5. When Michelangelo says "I was afraid he might say that" shortly after he gets pulled out of the hole leading to the Earth's core, Raphael and Donatello's belt initial colors are reversed, similar to the prevailing style of Season 2.
6. When Raphael is stuck in the tar pit, he mentions that an archeologist would rescue the turtles 50 million years from now. However, scientists believe that dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago.

Pizza References:
1. When Michelangelo encounters the T-Rex, he says "Now I know what an anchovy on my pizza feels like!"
2. Michelangelo mentioned that he thought mozzarella was never so good upon getting rescued from the tar pit.

Catchphrase Countdown:
1. Shredder calls Bebop & Rocksteady "clumsy cretins" and "idiots".
2. Right as the dinosaurs are about to bust open the Fortress vehicle, the turtles say "Turtle Power!"
3. Right before the dinosaur frees the crystal, Leonardo says "Turtles Fight With Honor".
4. Michelangelo says "Cowabunga!" as they escape the Fortress vehicle.

Pop Culture References:
1. Krang states that he should think about subscribing to cable since he sees the same boring images on the Technodrome's portal screen, in reference to the fact that non-cable TV has only a few channels.
2. Michelangelo refers to the crystal that Dippy has a relationship with as a disco ball.
3. Krang says, "To me Rocky, I'm Open!", a popular expression used in football. In addition, we hear other football terms such as "pass interference", "intercepted in the end zone and "touchdown" as everyone fights for the crystal.
4. The episode title is in reference to the 1930 novel Tarzan at the Earth's Core.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. When Michelangelo asks Raphael why the Turtles have to run after Dippy, Raphael responds that it wouldn't be much of an episode.
2. Michelangelo says "don't touch that dial dude!" upon finding Krang and Shredder.

Wacky Inventions:
1. Krang's Anti-gravitation skimmer
2. The Fortress shell built by the Foot Soldiers
3. Shredder's microwave ray device

Something else you might want to add: Shredder is voiced by Peter Reneday for a single line in that episode.

3. The Technodrome is back to its original spot as shown from its first appearance this season, despite being mobile in "The Fifth Turtle".

5. Shredder calls the Turtles "wretched amphibians" inside the museum when they are really reptiles.

Catchphrase Countdown:
1. April signs out with "This is April O'Neil, Channel 6 News" after her report in front of the Malicurian Embassy.

Pizza References:

2. Michelangelo says that he smells pizza while on the second floor of the Embassy.
3. In the ballroom, Michelangelo finds a mini-pizza, and jokes that it will be when it grows up.
4. The Turtles are eating pizza in Splinter's room at the end of the episode.

Pop Culture References:
1. The guests dressed at the Masquerade are dressed in various costumes, such as Batman and Superman.
2. Shredder says "You should have tried door number 2" when April tries to get away, a reference to the game show "Let's Make a Deal".

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Raphael states that the Turtles' dance card is full as they get ready to leave the ballroom.
2. Raphael says, "Remember kids, we're professionals. Don't try this at home" when hanging on the police helicopter in which Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady are holding April hostage.

Wacky Invention:
Donatello's digital binoculars

Kidnappings:
1. April is kidnapped by Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady as she is talking to the Turtles at the Embassy on her Turtlecom.
2. April escapes but is kidnapped again by the same bad dudes when Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady block the only exits out of the embassy. This time, April's mouth is also covered.

Notable:

Pat Fraley: Krang, Burne Thompson, Library Security Guard
Barry Gordon: Donatello, Bebop
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Vernon Fenwick, MACC

Mistakes:
1. When the Turtles greet MACC, Raphael's sais are visible on the back of his belt instead of the front.
2. Right before Michelangelo says "Peace dude" with MACC, Leonardo speaks with Donatello's voice.

4. MACC says "no problemo dude" to Michelangelo a moment later.

Pizza Reference:

2. Krang's two mind-controlling docilators

Kidnapping:
The Turtles are tied up with chain ropes after the enter the Technodrome to try and save MACC.

Notables:
1. On the Family Home Entertainment VHS release and on some video promos, this episode is titled "Attack of the Big Macc". The VHS release also edits the fadeout between the second commercial break and the line by Donatello "He's going to fire!", to the point that it seemed like nothing happened.
2. Ace Duck, a character in which the Turtles watch on the television at the start of the episode, was made into a Playmates Action Figure is shown.

Mistake:
April mentions that the turtles are found at the intersection of Centre Street and 3rd Avenue during her news report following "John and Marcia", but in the real NYC, the two streets never intersect each other.

Catchphrase Countdown:
1. Shredder says "it's those blasted turtles" when he encounters the turtles.

4. April is missing her rear hip pack when Burne mentions to avoid going to his birthday lunch.
5. When the water floods the Turtles' lair, Splinter goes down the waterfall in the sewers, but after the commercial break, he's still in the water above and never goes down the waterfall, which allows Michelangelo to rescue him before he goes down the waterfall.
6. April says that she's at the corner of Fifth and Main, and there is a Main street in Manhattan's Roosevelt Island, but the two streets never intersect in the real Manhattan.

Catchphrase Countdown:
1. Bebop says "Mama" as he loses control of the red boat.
2. Shredder calls Bebop & Rocksteady "idiots" as they crash their boat near Shredder.
3. Michelangelo says "Cowabunga!" as he comes to rescue Splinter from falling off the waterfall.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Shredder says "Oh would you believe I actually made a funny" as he controls the squid in an attempt to destroy the turtles.
2. Bebop says that this is better than a video game when the Turtles are spinning as the squid grasps control on them.

3. Donatello's outboard motor for the Turtle Van that allows the wheels to float on water.
4. Rocksteady's blaster grenade

Episode 33: Take Me to Your Leader
Written by: David Wise

Voice Cast:
James Avery: Shredder, Second Policeman
Cam Clarke: Leonardo, Rocksteady
Townsend Coleman: Michaelangelo
Jennifer Darling: Irma Langinstein
Barry Gordon: Donatello, Bebop
Pat Fraley: Krang, Burne Thompson
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael, First policeman
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Robot Guard, Bridge Attendant

Mistakes:
1. In Leonardo's dream, Raphael refers to Rocksteady as "hog-breath" which is Bebop's common insult.
2. When the Turtles slide on the ice while running from the polar bear, Leonardo is heard screaming, and the same would happen when Donatello slips on the snowy stairs and crashes on Michelangelo and Raphael, but Leonardo isn't in these scenes. This was a result of a stock voice effect used in post-production and not a live vocal.
3. After Donatello falls down the snowy stairs in the schoolhouse, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo gain snow boots.
4. When Leonardo leaves the turtles, he wears his winter outfit, but when he returns he wears blue colors, and the snow boots the other turtles received moved suddenly in the snowy schoolhouse (see mistake 3).
5. During Leonardo's dream, a dog bites Leonardo's foot, but he shows no reaction.
6. After Raphael declares Donatello the leader, Donatello's belt initial changes from gray to white.
7. When Donatello explains how he found the other Turtles and points to the fireworks, Raphael and Leonardo switch positions.

Catchphrase Countdown:
1. Shredder says "Turtle Soup" at the end of Leonardo's dream.
2. Michelangelo says "Cowabunga!" as he slides on the ice trying to escape the polar bear.
3. Michelangelo soon says "Let's Make Turtle Tracks!" as they escape from the polar bear.
4. Michelangelo says "Holy Guacamole!" when he enters the schoolhouse.
5. Krang says "you Wretched Reptiles" during the skyscraper battle.
6. Michelangelo says "Cowabunga!" as the Turtles slide down the elevator shaft.

Pizza References:
1. Michelangelo sees a pizza on the Technodrome's floor during Leonardo's dream, but it turns out to be a trap door.
2. Raphael says that he would play "Spin the Pizza" with Michelangelo. It determined who would be the new leader.
3. The pizza billboard next to the Channel 6 building is visible in this episode.
4. Michelangelo throws a snowball at Raphael, he said that "I'll roll you over through a pizza cutter like hot mozzarella."
5. There are three pizzas in Splinter's room at the end of the episode. Michelangelo eats a slice and says "that's scarfing down pizzas" when Splinter asks about what he does best.

Pop Culture References:
1. Rocksteady says "Where's that Abe Lincoln guy when you need him" when Shredder asks him to help, in reference to his emancipation of slavery.
never mess with a robot when in doubt climb on out
2. After Michelangelo falls from the schoolhouse's stairs, he spins around and states why they call it Breakdancing, a popular dancing fad of the mid-1980s.
3. After the school's facade collapses, Michelangelo says "School's Out" after the 1972 Alice Cooper song.
4. Raphael says "Who programmed this Robot? King Kong?"
5. Raphael says "Easier said than done, leadhead" as they start to fight the bad guys at the top of the skyscraper, in reference to the 1963 song by the Essex.
6. As the bad guys flee from the skyscraper, Shredder's parachute has a smiley face and says "Have a Nice Day!", a popular 1970s expression and symbol.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Krang says "You have a way with words, Shredder" as he activates the Solar Ciphon.
2. Afterwards, Shredder says "Well I've always wanted to be a writer".
3. Raphael says, "If we don't get up their quick, this is going to turn into a two-part episode" right before the turtles enter the skyscraper.

Wacky Inventions:
1. The Robot Guard guarding the Mile High Towers
2. The Solar Ciphon
3. Donatello's Energy Tracker
4. The transmitter bomb in the schoolhouse

Notable:
1. This is the last episode in which the turtles eyelids colors match their bandana colors until Leatherhead Terror of the Swamp. However, not all episode prior to this one featured bandana color-matching eyelids. This feature was occasionally seen in Season 1, but was mostly used in Season 2 as well as in a few early Season 3 episodes as well.
2. This is the first episode in which Krang with his android body appears in the city since Shreddered and Splintered.

Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael, Weird Pizza to Go spokesman

2. When we first see the Weird Pizza building, Rocksteady and Bebop are seen flipping pizza dough.

5. Michelangelo is seen delivering pizzas to a couple apartments, including a pickle and ice cream pizza. He next delivers a whole pizza with a plain cheese topping to Vernon.

5. This episode was animated by Murakami Wolf Dublin.
