Good Smile Company
The Japanese company GSC are making 4 TMNT statues based on James Jean designs. More info here:
http://mamitan.goodsmile.info/2014/1...ninja-turtles/ You can see them in person at this year's NY Comic Con in GSC's booth Oct. 9 and Oct. 12. Last edited by Victorsaurus; 10-08-2014 at 05:01 PM. |

So he drew that one strange pin-up of the turtles that is shown on that page, that wasn't published anywhere, and they are making statues of it?

Not quite up my alley, style-wise. I imagine the inevitably high asking price won't help either. The Leonardo sample piece looks great in terms of craftsmanship, though. For those who really dig this look, these are going to rock.

I dig the style! We'll see what the price point ends up being and how large the statues are....

I went to the booth at NYCC and all of them were there! Very cool set.
Boothman says $120 each as of now.

I took more pictures and I'll upload them later. Also, if these are successful they have plans to produce more TMNT figures, including nendoroids. -some employees at the booth.

Well that sucks. These aren't gonna sell very well. Nendroids would sell like CRAZY, but of course, like most companies, they're making the good stuff hinge on the crap nobody wants. Great.

Loved the look and wished they were going to be action figures instead of statues. Saved me some money

These WILL sell out fast. Theres a huge market of statue collectors out there, especially for TMNT statues, which there are very few made and in demand. So these statues you think are crap, will end up running $2k-$3k in 5 years time.Thats expensive crap. Refer to Sideshow Collectibles and Playmates cold cast resin TMNT sets. Not long ago they were running for $150-$250 when first released. I for one am happy to get another TMNT statue set. On top of that Prime 1 Studio's is making movie versions. Great time to be a TMNT statue collector! |

Nothing can be compared to the Playmates statues, they're a rare case. They're old. They're highly detailed. They represent Mirage comics. They had a small run. The sideshow statues have gone up in value too, of course, but they also represent the brand properly by having a look that could be indicative of almost any version of the property up to the point of their release. These pieces are small, stylized fan-art, essentially, which is going to turn off a lot of people, clearly. There's no way in hell they're gonna do the kinda numbers or after-market prices that their predecessors have.
