If you think Lugosi's acting was over the top, watch the Spanish version of Dracula that was filmed with an all Spanish cast at the same time as Tod Browning's Dracula. Using the same sets.

You'll realize Lugosi was very subtle and nuanced. Specifically the cigarette box mirror scene. After he smashes it, watch his face. Blind rage, contempt, and then he slowly realizes where he is and who's watching him. And the sophisticated gentleman returns.

He's brilliant.

Lugosi is often the best part of any piece of schlock he did, including the 2.5 Ed Wood he appears in.

Oh yes.

Dracula and Son of Frankenstein being his best performances, to me at least.

Orgy Of The Dead is completely nonsensical, indefensible schlock. It's a teeeeeeerrrible low-budget sexploitation horror flick that was written by, produced by and cast by Ed Wood - it's got lines of dialogue like "A pussycat was born to be whipped!" and it's basically 92 minutes of low-budget plotless insanity. If I had to actually describe what it's about, I'd summarize it as "people doing a burlesque show in a graveyard with dollar store Halloween masks" but really, I cannot emphasize how much this movie actually has no plot - it's just about dudes in bad horror costumes standing around watching ladies twerking 1960's style.

When the posters for the movie boast about being "in shocking sexicolor!", you know what kind of ride you're in for.

I ONLY watch porn in shocking sexicolor.

Really brings out the reds and pinks.

Also:

"people doing a burlesque show in a graveyard with dollar store Halloween masks"

"it's just about dudes in bad horror costumes standing around watching ladies twerking 1960's style."

That is totally my kinda thing.

Brilliant, yes. But oof, that dialog delivery.... At times, it was just too funny to believe that it was from a horror novel! And if you think that other one was bad (which it was- I've probably seen just about every version of Dracula that's been done), Nosferatu (the original silent film) was just- beyond cheese. I realize it was Hollywood's newborn days, but- well, acting back then was much more "theatrical" and over-gesticulated. If that makes sense. Most actors of the early era were guilty of this, because film was such a new medium, and they hadn't yet realized that less is more when it comes to acting on film instead of on a stage.

I mentioned in another topic how everyone defending this movie gets accused of liking bad movies or not caring about quality. Yet b-movies/so-bad-its-good and such are ok to like...because they're "better" crap?

That's some unique contradictory b.s. right there.

This turtle movie is nothing special. It's an ok action movie at best. Some stuff I liked some not. Oh but heaven forbid anyone call it something other than pure garbage.

Okay, but you have a choice not to be subjected to these bad movies. So the real question goes like this:

Would you rather a chili-pepper enema, which a really large amount of people really like, to exist, and you can choose to participate or not participate in receiving, dependent on whether you enjoy chili-pepper enemas or not. Or would you rahter there be no chili-pepper enema ever in existence, denying people who really enjoy chili-pepper enemas the "joy" of experiencing chili-pepper enemas simply because you don't like them? Seems selfish. Not wanting something to exist simply because one's tastes do not align with said thing.

The argument brought up earlier about not wanting the movie to be made so that a better one can be made sooner in the future rather than later seems to be the only good argument for not wanting this movie to be made.

If the question was:

Would you rather be FORCED to receive a chili-pepper enema, whether you like it or not, OR nothing at all?

Sure, nothing at all, all the way. But we're not being FORCED to receive the enema, its simple existence is what's in question.

Not at all. People like so-bad-they're good movies from the past is because:
1. There's earnest effort put in. Ed Wood's passion makes most of his films, however bad, enjoyable because you can see he and the actors and crew were trying. It was all for naught, but they gave it their all.
2. They are fun(ny). The premises are absurd, the acting and sets are low key, and the dialogue is so wacky you can't help but laugh. I'll take a "Future events such as these will affect you in the future." over a "We will drain every last ounce of their blood to get it, even if it kills them!" any day of the week.

Considering my and others wishing something doesn't exist affects dick all, why do you care?

Maybe you should not care so much what other people say/think.

Bingo.

This movie series is a bullsh*t nostalgia cashgrab.

That sounds like choosing what is ok to be bad. Hey I like some stuff like this. I'm not saying we shouldn't...it's just contradicting why no one can like Tmnt 2014. Not even Tmnt 3 gets this treatment.

Aww, I missed the fun last night. But hey, here's my obligatory response anyway:

A bad movie is more damaging to the property/brand than no movie. With no movie, the property at least has that untainted fond nostalgia going for it, and with it the potential to turn that into something good in the future. A series of bad movies makes it easier and easier for the general public to write the whole concept off as crap. It's harder to come back from that once the opinion is widespread enough, and the more bad movies you make, the quicker that's gonna happen. That kind of thing has damaged entire brands for a solid decade or more in the past.

It's better for a property to be idle and have potential than it is for lazy producers to completely run it into the ground for a quick cash-in.

Seems like they are going with the IDW/1987 cartoon origins of them being punks before mutantion

I like good movies for being good. I hate bad movies for being bad, BUT some bad movies make me laugh ergo they become a guilty pleasure, however TMNT 2014 wasn't one, hated the character designs, the editing, the lens flares. It was like it was directed by a poor man's Michael Bay and that's quite an insult for a filmmaker if this one doesn't recover I'm done with this franchise. I'll stick to the shows.
