I like this design. Its like they combined the original and 2k12 version. Also she's wearing pink just like in the original.

I particularly like that Campbell seems to have incorporated some of the suggestions she got right here at the forum into Mona Lisa's design.

Here's a variant cover for issue 101 with Mona Lisa in it.

Sophie talked about Mona Lisa months ago before this reveal so it now seems like those were hints she would appear. Also made similar comments about Rahzar/Tokka, so they might show up next year too, or at least Rahzar.

We can only hope! We really need the big guy. Not so much Tokka, but I won't complain if he shows up, too...

I'm gonna assume something happened in New York. and a lot of people turned into Mutants.

Not if it's a leatherback, which I've theorized elsewhere around here.

The red eyes is what I was going with for it to be albino.

It could also be a diamondback terrapin but it wouldn't have red eyes.

Oh, no, it's definitely albino, but it very much looks like a leatherback, what with that sunfloweer seed-like body, and explains the solid white color since an ordinary leatherblack would be solid black. Whereas a diamondback terrapin would have a more traditional-looking plastron, like that of the (other) Turtles.

Also as ChosenOne said, honored that Sophie was working on Mona Lisa designs with us on the forums not so long ago!

One thing I noticed about this new design. Is how casually Mona Lisa is dressed. Its as if she's not bothered that she's a mutant lizard.

She's probably someone who sees herself looking cool due to the mutation.

Some people aren't comfortable with there looks. But there mutation happens. And they see themselves looking cool and bad ass.

Look at Bebop and Rocksteady. They are cool with being mutants. Because to them. They feel stronger and see themselves as a pair of bad asses.

It'd be funny if when she would get mad her feather/hair would pop out of her scrunchi and look like a giant mane.

Yes, that is to be appreciated, for sure.

Hell, after not following comics, monthly, for over a decade, I got back into it with the initial Superior Spider-Man run. Believe it or not, by this time, I was naive enough to believe the Superior Spider-Man could be the status-quo for the next five or more years. I know how that sounds, but I wasn't up to date on Marvel's comic publishing techniques and they were selling the idea quite strongly in interviews.
So, yeah, it was exciting! "Here I am at the ground floor of an exciting turn in the history of Spider-Man! I can't wait to see how Ock develops from trash into a world-class hero!" I was picking up other Marvel comics alongside it, on my bi-weekly/monthly trips to the comicbook store, and enjoying most of those as well.

Then when Peter made his return a little over a year later, and things were essentially reverted back to the classic status-quo, the whole illusion really came crashing down for me. I remembered where I was and left. Stopped following Marvel comics monthly again for the next several years. Now I'm actually back to reading a couple, like Immortal Hulk and Hickman's X-Men. Both are excellent books, I'm glad to follow monthly. I guess, for me, the craft, storytelling, and art of a Marvel comic have to be absolutely 10/10 to combat the sense of nothing being permanent. That's a tall order in some ways.

I think the idw run has more female mutants now than all of the other series combined. Makes me happy to see them and know that they exist.
