Well, they practically had a script outline written for decades, so why not?

Val Kilmer is back:
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...194612540.html But... I don't know how it can be a part much different than Christopher Pike in the present day of "The Menagerie," if you catch my drift. Here's Val just a few days ago: He's not doing so great.

“We found ourselves leaning towards recreating moments from the film as opposed to creating new ground and we found time and again that the more we let go of the original movie and went into our own direction, the film became more true."
"And there really was the possibility to make something that stood alone. It was very important to Tom and I [that] when we would talk about ‘Top Gun’ you didn’t have to see the original movie to enjoy this one.” https://www.darkhorizons.com/top-gun...reenings-more/ So, it's a requel then.

What is the over and under on whether or not Maverick survives the movie?

The original was a big deal when it came out. I remember it was a sensation. I'm really looking forward to this one actually.

Saw it. Yeah. Pretty much it's the best movie in a decade or so. Near perfect screenplay... nothing is wasted here. Lots of people were crying at different times.

Pretty eager to see this one. Haven't even see Dr. Strange 2 yet, but I'll see this first.

Saw it and liked it. The ending felt a wee bit tacked on after all the buildup of the main mission but it worked satisfactorily.

Very enjoyable. Was on the edge of my seat during the last few scenes.

Hardly anything is original and rights are purchased to make into a film. Top Gun is based off of a 1983 article Top Guns, yes plural. The author of the article has since passed away, but his family called out Paramount for not renewing the copyright since its a sequel based on the article. Paramount begs to differ. Its all about money.

I did see it a second time, this time with daughter. Just as good. Caught a couple of minor touches I missed the first time. I don't think any of those long aerial sequences are ever going to get old.

Dude! I just saw you said this scrolling through here and I laughed because that was my thought exactly! Honestly the best movie I've seen since the first Avengers flick, and easily one of the top ten movies of the last 22 years.
