Children prefer fortnite, not rehashed boomer franchises that attract twitter weirdos.

I actually just watched Flight of the Navigator on Disney Plus about a week ago. It's weird, I never really thought of the movie as being a Disney product. But I guess I was wrong.

I mentally mix up parts of the original with "The Explorers," and vice versa. It's been a long time.

The Explorers absolutely creeped me out as a kid. But I loved the "I want my cheeze" mouse.....

Don't really care either way, but the gender swapped reboots continue to feel like lazy ideas, imo. And it keeps being women/girls that get stuck with the laziness, as if new and original ideas that everyone will love are so hard to come up with if it stars a female character.
I still think instead of reboots would it really be so difficult to instead make original sequels with the main character being a child of the original? That movie it so old the boy in the original could easily be a father by now, with a daughter following in his own adventuresome footsteps. |

The world thrives on nostalgia. Corporations know this and would rather bank on something known than something brand new. With new things, $ must be spent on marketing and convincing people it's awesome. Because of nostalgia, mediocre and even bad things are already awesome. The original FOTN is an amazing nostalgia trip for me, but objectively it's far from a masterpiece. I love the movie Howard the Duck. How else could I say that except for nostalgia? I'd be first in line for a ticket on a reboot.

I mean, I remember seeing the movie back then but like... idk. I wouldn't consider it some timeless classic or anything. Or at least not big enough to actually need a reboot.

I'd do a requel if anything. Like, the kid when he's an adult. Or the ship and a new kid decades later.

So why doesn't Disney make a live action version of Gargoyles or something where one of the main characters was always a woman, and she was Black too?

You mean like the BayTurtles overshadowed April? And SHOULDN'T the Gargoyles "overshadow" Elisa anyway? They are the MAIN CHARACTERS.
