That said, I think they're overpriced! (Especially when you factor in the $35 shipping charge).

But everybody has a right to make a buck and somebody probably is willing to pay that much for them.
that being said, i guess i overpaid cause that's about what i paid for some of what i got and that's without shipping. mind u i got more than 6 books sometimes for that price

Value really is in the eye of the beholder. I just get my price range from the averages of what I've seen on Amazon Japan. But prices do vary over time. I take the philosophy of "the more you buy, the less the seller ought to charge you per book."

Very interesting history, I always wanted to know more, especially about the super mutations/armors. I'd love to be able to read those issues or at least have extended summaries of them. As a huge fan of Power Rangers and Saint Seiya as a kid having the TMNT my other love as a kid seeing influences from those on TMNT is great. In fact I often played PRs an Saint Seiya plots with my TMNT figures. I also think anime April looks too Kawai.

well you'd think so. My seller gave me deals on the shipping but also based his prices on Amazon Japan as well

ShoPro Books has been releasing the IDW series in Japan.

Interestingly, the "Mutant Turtles Vol. 1" trade not only includes IDW TMNT issues #1-4, but also Mirage TMNT Vol. 1 issue #1. Also, the trade with the first four IDW micro-series is called "Mutant Turtles: Omnibus". And there's a Japanese version of the Ult. Visual History book.

That was the thing that always mystified me about the turn the franchise took when Eastman and Laird licensed the cartoon and the parallel comic book published by the same outfit that gave us Archie. The turtles' original origin story? The whole thing hinges on a for-Christ's-sake rape-murder!!!!
from here.

Always nice to learn a new wrinkle to the TMNT international market. I wonder what original new TMNT comics might be produced in Japan.

Well, there was that weekly manga short that only got one part translated...
