Just looking for some clarity, but what's wrong with fan art? Those Kuhn and Eastman sketches were never published in a comic, but those are okay?

Nothing, but this thread is specifically for "official" comic art, published or not.

This is a fun thread. It's fun to see all the different art of TMNT comics whether it has been used or not.

Figured I'd give this thread a bump, not just because it was awesome in its own right but because I have something of "my own" to share! Lifted from my art thread.
Last week I was given the honor of coloring this piece for famed TMNT comic book illustrator of 25+ years, Jim Lawson. It's a big 'ol splash of notable characters from the Mirage universe. This beauty will be available as a print (in black & white as well, I think) in August, when Jim makes a convention appearance in MA. I would imagine they'll be offered online as well at some point, though I'm unsure at this time. At any rate, this is an especially awesome piece from Jim, a real treat for the eyes as a turtle fan. I'm beyond proud to have gotten to contribute my coloring duties, period, let alone to such a spectacular work of art. The 30th anniversary of these fellas has been so special for me, & things like this make it clear why. Thanks a bunch, Jim, for not only this soul-enriching opportunity, but for damn near 30 years of dedication & creative gold to a property that means so much to millions of people everywhere (me especially)! Stay up to date with Jim over here- https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jim-L...879245?fref=ts Go here to see it in a muuuuuch higher resolution (click to zoom)- http://powderakacaseyjones.deviantar...shup-456334561

Looks terrific
If anyone goes to the event in question and can pick one up, that would be great

I suppose this could go in the 30th anniversary section but it fits here as well.
This is one of the 7 pages I colored for the 30th anniversary book. It's without lettering but if you want the full effect you can look at the book. Below are the inks in case people want to see it without color. Story - Gary Carlson Art - Frank Fosco Powder - I do like that piece you posted. That color really makes it pop. |
