Question Timing is Everything dates

Today I was watching Timing is Everything from the Fast Forward season, and when Cody gets flung back in time with Leo, he opens his watch, and low and behold they are back at the turtles' first encounter with Shredder - in 1993!

So, are we really to believe that the show took place over the period of more than 12 years?! Not to mention the fairly contemporary technology that they use early on in the series that looks like it comes from 2003, and not 1993. How does everyone here see it? Goof or correct? Somehow I can't make it work in my head.

I elected to completely ignore that. Or, at least, chalk it up to the spacetime continuum being torn apart being what made his scanner malfunction.

It's an animation goof. That's what I tell myself.

I don't remember this. I must not have noticed it before. That's gotta be an error. There's no way that the first five seasons was supposed to have taken place for over 13 years from 1993-2006.

An error probably. 2003-1993 both have 3s in them

How could someone confuse them? Understood if it was 1983 or 1993 with just one idfferent number but not 1993 and 2003.

Agreed. But it doesn't seem possible that it could've been 1993. DVDs didn't even exist in 1993. So it seems very unlikely that Michaelangelo would've had a DVD collection back then.

Fortunately I don't think Cody actually makes a statement about it being 1993, just something along the lines of, "We're back in your time!"
If he had said the year, then that would have really messed things up!

Even in 2003 the first thing that would fall with the garbage thrown into the sewers for Michaelangelo to pick up would probably more be videotapes than DVD.
