"You are not aloooooone... I am here with yoooooou..."

Holy sh*t, yes. Mustard and his constant dueling. Plum's constant befuddlement. Boddy and his genuine over-affection for all of his "friends", despite all of them hating him and each other. The wacky and implausible situations that nonetheless completely justify themselves. Pure gold.

That's what I wanna see in live action. No "House of Mustard/House of Scarlet" conspiracy theories. Just an elaborate mansion full of tricks and traps, full of awful and self-worshiping rich people, and their host, who thinks they're all just The Best until one of them clobbers him in the Study with the Candlestick. Keep It Simple, Stupid.

I only have about three of those books but I ADORE them. Still hilarious as an adult, which is generally impossible. That's the magic, I guess. Huge fan.

I had all eighteen of them and sold them when I was in high school. Stupid of me. I need to find them on eBay again...

Green and his greed; Mrs. Peacock and her ridiculous obsession with manners; Mrs. White, the tired and bitter cook.

Damn, I love those books. And I love you for not letting me be the only one to love them.

Honestly, those books are why I didn't really enjoy the movie. The movie was clever, but it didn't match up to what I always thought the characters should be, y'know?

I hear ya. I saw the movie many years before, and I remain a big fan, but yeah, I like the books a lot more.

Hahaaaa, White hated eeeeeeeverybody, didn't she? Such a passive-aggressive witch. Glorious.

Eighteen of them?! Once I get paid, I'm off to eBay!!!

Yeah, man. And of course, 18 ends without resurrecting Boddy... and no nineteenth book to explain away his "death" either.

Awww.

I loved those absurd explanations about how nobody really got killed. Just a total Rube Golderg-stye casserole of complete nonsense.

People like to imply that I don't have a sense of humor... even I've said so at least once... but the truth is, it just has to be smart and clever.

...They really were trying to kill him at least a couple of times. He was always such a good sport. "Ah, yes. Well, I can see how you'd be upset. Ah well, no harm done! Who's up for cricket?" I hope I'll shake off MY eventual assassination attempt(s) with such good humor and forgiveness.

It was stupidly endearing.

"Aw, you guys are only my friends because I'm rich and keep writing you all into my will! I really should keep the weapons locked up, but I just want to share everything I own with you.... so, shall we retire to the billiard room? I feel like pool!"

I'd watch the hell out of a movie that followed the books' characterizations.

Jason Bateman is in talks to not only direct the film but also co-star with Ryan Reynolds in it.

The original movie is coming back to select theaters on October 6 and 9. The screenings will feature all three endings.

Bateman has now departed the project. James Bobin (The Muppets, Dora and the Lost City of Gold) is now in talks to direct the film. I'm not sure if I can see him as director because he does family-friendly films.

Sony has now picked up the rights to the remake and any potential TV series.
