Scientists never have Dr. title in OT?

So one thing I've pondered on and pondered on is why Baxter/Barney are not called Dr. Stockman in the 87 series. I wondered if they didn't have the title. Then it occurred to me that it's not exclusive to them; it seems like every scientist on the 87 series is called Professor and never Doctor (or at least, the great majority are). Has anyone else noticed this? I'm wondering if they didn't want to call the scientists Doctors because they thought little kids would get confused with medical doctors. LOL.

No idea, maybe among the mad scientists they did so many dangerous expirements they were kicked out of the university before completing their education?

But actually, also scientists who weren't bad guys were always called "professor" in April's and Vernon's interviews.

Yep, I remember the scientists in Turtles of the Jungle and Super Irma were called Professor and they were good guys/protagonists, so it wasn't just the antagonists. Very strange!

Whenever I think of Barry Gordon's Donny voice it's of him saying "Professor". He said it so much when addressing other characters in the series, it's almost a catchphrase.

This show also might be why I mentally think of all scientists as having the title, before I catch myself.

As a child even when I knew a doctor musn't be a medical one, I for some reason never accepted using the phrase for such people.
