Enjoy the Lord of the Rings / Hobbit films and Harry Potter films or not, they still managed to make competent legible films with larger-than-life beloved-by-fans characters and stories without the sheer WTFery of the DCEU.

Not every interpretation is for everyone, whether it's Batman or the Hobbit or Slytherin, but I don't know of anyone who points to the films I mentioned and says "Boy was a clusterf*ck that series is."

Honestly, I would recommend not even bothering to watch the third one.

I went and got the three Hobbit movies so I could rip them to my computer with the intention of trying to trim the fat and make improved fan-edits, but they're all so bloated it would have been too hard to make any meaningful cuts with the way they structured the films.

There's a scene in the third act of the third film with Legolas that will make you scoff so hard you'll choke

Oh definitely true, my problems with the two film series are definitely trivial. I have very fond memories of going to see the LOTR films in theaters with my family and at the least the Harry Potter films put some people onto the books so I appreciate them for that if nothing else

Speaking of book series being adapted to visual mediums, I am really looking forward to The Golden Compass TV series coming out soon

That's a great quote right there

I really liked the Hobbit movies, but I think the environment I was in at the time played a key role in that.

Sprawling visuals and a slow moving plot are much easier to take when you're in a theater that comes with leather reclining chairs and a wait-staff that'll bring you drinks so you don't have to get up when the cocktails run out.

I loved the Hobbit trilogy*, mainly because I always disliked that the book didn't flesh out any of the dwarves beyond "the king one, the old one, the fat one, and the others."

Also didn't like "Bilbo takes a concussion-nap through the final battle."

*The Extended Edition, I should clarify... I was absolutely pissed off when I left the theater after the theatrical showing of "Battle of Five Armies." But the Extended Edition made up for it.

Hmm yeah, I think I could watch anything in a theater like that and be content

I think I liked some of those types of vagaries in the book The Hobbit, it contributed to the tone, and it (plus Bilbo being knocked out during the grand finale) was all in-line with the theme that Bilbo himself was the author of the book, so he wouldn't have been able to describe the events he missed out on.

I dunno, it felt a bit whimsical I guess and I kinda liked that. But I also hadn't read the book since we did a report on it in middle school

Three weekends after release and Justice League still hasn't reached the opening weekend box office of the Avengers.

Justice League - 17 days - $197 million
Avengers - 3 days - $207 million

At this pace Justice League will make less than Man of Steel. Crazy.

It's a tarnished product, they should've never messed with Zack Snyder's vision in the first place tbh.

Live and learn DC.

Well, they should have done a lot of things. Of all the options available to them, I'd have just buried Justice League entirely. Let The Batman come out, Man of Steel 2, Wonder Woman 2, Aquaman, Flash, then circle back around to it from scratch. The other option would be just let JL out with Snyder's vision.

I mean, imagine if The Avengers was a failure. Where would they have gone from there?

Snyder's vision in itself was a tarnished product

They'd still have done Iron Man 3, probably? But that'd be about it...

No, it means tons of foreign films do well in China because they only allow a certain number of western films to be screened over there.

I am absolutely a comic book purist/DCAU snob, but I still loved this movie.

JUSTICE LEAGUE Cinematographer Says Black Superman Costume Exists, Was Cut From Film

Okay I'm about done with all these b.s. cuts and woefully edited scenes mess.

How is this surprising? We already knew that there was no Snyder footage of Superman in the movie.
