No, Playmates did make the character as a toy however and took quite the liberty with him making him gold instead of silver. Rex-1, inspired by Robocop that was out during this time was an experiment by the NYPD. A robot from the future called M.A.C.C. appeared as well one time.

That NECA Slash is the toy you always wanted for that character.... Actually all of the NECA toys in this line are that. -shrugs-
That’s so weird. The original Slash was abundant at the store where I lived back in the day. Maybe the Zellers near me got extra shipments?

I think the mental algebra we do for this sometimes omits a lot of the necessary combined information. For example, there are a lot of factors: back then I was a kid so getting around meant doing it on your bike or being driven. It also meant having a smaller footprint to shop based on your ability to get places. For me it was TRU or weekend trips to Kay-B at the mall with some friends.

And so when you combine distribution, with popularity of a figure, with accessibility as a kid, with shopping options within that accessible area; you have a more accurate picture of how a toy could be hard to find back then beyond today's mental algebra regarding "case ratio".

This as opposed to nowadays where for example, the NECA Turtles are "hard to find", but "hard to find" now means that I get in my car and go to as many Targets we want to find them and at any time we choose to do so, versus going to a single store repeatedly across a month and only on weekends.

Funny in all that modern TMNT Bebop & Rocksteady promotional art, Rocksteady comes with a helmet

Neca's Rocksteady art is the only one that doesn't come with a helmet.

Did they think no one would notice?

No I don't like it. I just want realistic Ninja action that's not over the top.

Btw: first Turtles in Time review is up. What a weak wave. Even Slash has the same body and nails are not painted and buying the Turtles and Foot again just for a simple board?! Hahah I never liked the videogame lines. Again, easy pass for me

I don't think Slash's nails are colored in the game (they look the same green to me) so the figure is screen-accurate in that regard.

Dude the whole franchise is over the top. Teenage. Mutant. Ninja. Turtles? But a police robot jumps the shark?!?

To each their own, but to another point entirely the NECA line really would be great with BAFS. Hell, Krang's Android body would've been a perfect candidate for this!
I do agree with you about the video game stuff though - basically all of the video game variants are easy passes for me as well. I'll stick with the FW accurate stuff.

I didn't notice and I don't think it's a big deal at all. It's a tiny over site in my opinion the rest of the figure looks amazing.

These are being sold online at stores like Big Bad Toystore. I don't think these will be hard to get... unless you wait.

Splinter vs Rat King.
Muck Man and Mutagen Man.
Irma and Vernon.
Baxter Stockman the fly and Baxter Stockman.
Gengehis Frog and Napoleon Bonafrog
Atillia The Mad Frog and Rasputin Frog

I wonder how the Neutrinos would be released since its an odd number?
General Tragg vs Dask
Kala and Zak
Lieutenant Granitor and rock soldier

So many options, but I can see repackaging with different figures and generic foot soldiers messing this up!

Yeah, Android Krang as a BAF would be great! I don't expect him being a super poseable figure. Just screenaccurate and big. So a BAF figure totally suits him imo. However, when I look at the way Neca is making money I don't think they will include all body parts with other figures/sets. I expect them to just sell it as a Deluxe figure for $50 minimum.

I only collect the hard core of the cartoon Turtles (and 1/4 1990). However, I do like videogame Slash more than cartoon Slash. More intimidating and cartoon Slash is very goofy.

But not enough to buy because he doesn't fit very well with that paint deco. So I won't buy both of them. Leatherhead will be a must have for me! Can't wait to buy Leatherhead, April and Casey seperately but it's taking Neca forever to release them

Sh*tty idea. I rather want them to focus on more important things. Splinter for Christ sake! I don't think many collectors are waiting on a far too big random Monster...

That is the thing about buying them separately. It will be out of the package. I want them in the package, but in doing so we get a second figure we don't want. Was it ever explained why two packs and not singles?

I prefer to have them in packaging offcourse, but I don't really mind if they are out of it. A lot of eBay sellers sell them while they're still in the plastic bubble/tray.

I believe something with the licensing has to do with it. They aren't allowed to release the cartoon figures sepeately.

At some point i really wish they'd start making vehicles.
Party wagon, blimp, and gulp... technodrome?

I mean, it's not unheard of of Neca to be making bigger than usual figures.
They did make ED-209 for robocop.

NECA stated 2-packs were necessary because their price point had to be over $50 for Playmates to agree to let NECA sell in Target.
