Well, that cover kinda tells us who the "surprise character is"... or DOES it?
Cool, a Turtles hiding in plain sight story? I like those.

Not much to say, the summaries don't give much away. I am very excited to finally get the Triceraton arc in IDW I've been waiting for a while for.
Maybe the character returning is Bishop because he wouldn't want alien scum like Triceratons on the Earth. |

But how can Bishop be the returning character if he's already featured in the arc's previous issues that we know of? It's gotta be someone out of left field.

It could be Karai or Harrold.

From the way the issues are framed, it seems to be both Splinter and Casey. With the Foot Clan and the Purple Dragons between them, they'll probably be a huge boon in fighting off the Triceratons.

You know, looking at Cover B and pondering the description again... It might just be Hun!

Oh sh#t, maybe!
I did just realize that it looks like Casey just bludgeoned a Triceraton to death with a golf club until it got embedded in it and snapped. Now try to configure all the physics and muscle power that would go into such a task . Krang was going somewhere when he tried to fight Zog with a lamp!

Realistically everyone should be fighting off the Triceratons, but it depends on how many characters they want to use in this story. I guess having Splinter/The Foot, Casey and/or Purple Dragons should be more than enough, but they could throw in Hun and Bishop, etc. too.
Or of course Old Hob/Mutanimals and maybe even Leatherhead if he goes back to Earth after the current arc. |

"Following the trial of Krang, the Turtles return to Earth, but, while they may be done with outer space, outer space isn't done with them! Abducted from their planet millenia ago, the Triceratons are at last free to return home. They come in peace, but how will the world react to a Triceraton "invasion" in the heart of New York City? About how you would expect, especially when the Earth Protection Force gets involved. As the three-pronged attack begins in earnest, it's up to the Turtles to stop the conflict before it escalates into all-out war! Collects issues #76-80 of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ongoing series from IDW, now the longest-running TMNT series ever."
