I would be shocked if Weller isn't going to be a lock.

They also need to get Nancy Allen back.
Blomkamp hasn't had a hit movie since District 9. So hopefully he will strike gold with this. He was originally gonna do a new Alien movie. |

So Robocop (2014) no longer happened?

Robocop 2014 wasn't even bad. I enjoyed it at the time. Its just its own thing. It didn't have the satire from the original.

Robocop 2014 was bad and something I would like to forget about.
I have mixed feelings about a Robocop 4. |

design of Robocop 2014 wasn't bad. I wouldn't mind a team up.

I'm of two minds. One, sh**, wouldn't it be great to have her back, acting against Weller again? The other, damn... that would mean Robocop 2 and (less importantly) Robocop 3 didn't ever happen.
I tend to think the pros outweigh the cons in not involving her but still mentioning her in passing. Quote:

As much as it'd be fun to have the remake Robocop show up in the new movie and show up as this other Robocop against Weller's old school model, there's really no way to reconcile the two timelines, even if we scrub Robocop 2 and 3 from the equation. They had the option to leave it sort of vague and open when they made the remake... sadly, they chose not to. OCP doesn't even exist in that world.

Is this a remake or a continuation?

I can understand ignoring the third one but the second one was awesome.

Ugh. Well, considering that none of RoboCop sequels were especially good*, I'd say goodspeed. I just hope he will be able to make it at least somewhat witty and sarcastic, rather than preachy-preachy. * I like RoboCop 2, but it was too heavy-handed with its approach and lost wittiness of the original in favor of edginess. RoboCain rules, though. |

I enjoyed Robocop 2. It was a lot more violent then the 1st one. But it had more humor then the 1st one. Like when Robocop was reprogrammed and was acting all nice and stuff.

I fell in love with Neil Blomkamp's work when I first saw District 9. While his recent films haven't made a positive impression on me, I'm always intrigued to see what he does next. I'm excited for this film.
For some reason, I've never seen Robocop, but I loved his concept art for the Alien movie that fell through. |

I'd take an R-Rating too, I mean it never took off with kids anyway so why not bring it back? Also agreed, if going along the lines of the first movie it doesn't suit a PG13. I'd still watch if it was PG-13 though.
Classic suit or very much resembling it too. As for the Nancy comments, she wouldn't need to have a major role like being his partner, she could be higher up now but still have some involvement with him. I'd like her character to be in it anyway. So far as what we end up with, I didn't like everything that came after the first movie anyway so it can't be worse (don't want to jinx it) I'm going to let myself feel a little excited for this for the time being Last edited by newfan; 07-12-2018 at 11:56 AM. |

To no real surprise, Blomkamp wants Peter Weller.
