35th Anniversary Comic Book set from Playmates
Please feel free to take this down if it’s been mentioned before.
I see that Playmates are doing a 35th Anniversary Comic Book set of figures. The figures are all B/W versions of their color versions from a few years back, Only color, is their bandanas: all red of course. The detailing has been upped somewhat from the SDCC Raph, and the set comes with a version of the 1st comic with an exclusive cover penned by Kevin Eastman. I’m not sure if this is an SDCC release, but it’s got a run of 7000 sets. |

Information comes from the set i have.
I found nothing on-line about it, so I didn’t post pics. I was trying to see if it was an SDCC Ex. There is nothing in the packaging to suggest it is, but it has an edition count, out of 7000 (so there are quite a few sets being made) Essentially B/W versions of these guys with added body detailing that accentuates the comic book look. Here’s a taster of the item. If I get no objections from anyone, I’ll post a full set of pics after the weekend. I know they are rehashed, but I think they look pretty cool. This must be the project Kevin hinted at around Toy Fair. SDCC exclusive does seem likely and I wouldn't be surprised if they're offered through the Sewer Squad site too.

That's cool. Even since they made a black and white Raphael I want the full set.
This would do. Hope it won't be expensive. |

I haven't bought a Playmates figure in many years, but I'm curious about these.

Cool turtle-verse packing and I love 4 pack sets.
Hopefully the price is right and then I’ll be interested in getting one

Looks good. Really wish Playmates would add wrist joints for these figures.

That is my one real complaint with the ones before. You can't get proper poses because of the lack of wrist articulation. I like these in the box though. I think I will be getting some if the price is right.

I respect everyone's opinion, for sure, and I really hope you guys who are excited for this really enjoy it, but these look awful to me. Like, really bad. Neca's comic line blew these out of the water. These don't even look like the comic versions, really, and the weird black detailing is atrocious. Why does it look like they're all about to lose their noses? What is that? A scar? Awful.
The best part about this is the back of the box. |

The packaging really does look great though. I don't buy any Playmates products, but this is actually sort of tempting to me. The sculpts being weak has less impact when you keep them in the box. |

I don't think Playmates does any indication on the packaging for San Diego Comic Con exclusives. They only mark it on the white outer box if it's included.
I think this is because usually they aren't limited to SDCC exclusive only. The black and white Raphael figure end up being a promotional exclusive for Toys R Us Canada. |
