I got a high end SSD for my pc !
Two days ago i did a very good upgrade for my pc! I got a high end SSD MP 600 2TB! It has 4900/mb read speed. Until now i had a TB HDD(2011) and a 4 TB WD BLACK HDD(2017) that as you know they are all much slower than any SSD. So i decided to get this https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...00-m2-nvme-ssd and now evrything is so fast! I also kept the two HDDS as i didnt want to lose the games ,programs, movies, tv series, e.t.c that i have installed on them but from now on i will be installing evrything on that monster SSD! While it was taking 5 minutes to boot to desktop with the windows on the hdd now with the MP 600 it takes less than 5 seconds and even the most demanding games load very fast! Rest of the system is RYZEN 7 1700 16 GB DDR4 3200MHZCL15 GTX 970 G1 GAMING DELLP2416D 24'' 2560X1440 60 HZ IPS.

You probably can't even run Half Life 2 on that!

How very illuminating.
I have no clue on the specs you just said but I’m happy for you. |

I've been looking for a 2tb external SSD sort of passively for a while now. If anyone has any suggestions for something at the correct market price but durable for long term storage, throw it here so I can benefit from your wisdom, please.

I have a few high end SSDs for my camera. Do people actually run programs and such on them, just off the USB?

Sure, but are you thinking that's how all of them are? Most of them are internal, you know, like an old-fashioned mechanical hard drive.

How do you employ your SSD's? My photo booth for my W1C sales is in a different area than my computer. So basically as I take pictures they are sent over my private network wirelessly to my server so that they are all compiled there when I am ready to work on the images. I love the server, but I'm really curious as to how you employ your SSD's for your camera. |

At this point SSDs are becoming popular, if you buy a new desktop or laptop PC it's likely it cointains an SSD drive.

But like... what do they plug into, internally? The SATA ports?

https://ibb.co/wJKM5cS SSD plugs right into the camera's USB. Nowadays you have to use either SSD or CFast cards or you can't shoot in higher modes like 6K and up. Memory cards aren't fast enough. They even make little holders for them that can attach to your camera cage (also pictured there).

On laptops they are usually connected through SATA.

That's what I thought - 2.5" right?

Yes, 2.5" is the most common format on laptops. I only have a 3 Gb/s SATA port (SATA 2.0) on my laptop, I wonder if I would still have some benefit by switching to an SSD. The fastest SATA port is 6 Gb/s (SATA 3.0) but I don't have one.
