I don't have the DVD handy, but it might be worth taking a look at the movie Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. The movie is from 1991, and there's a scene that shows quite a bit of the inside of a Toys R Us.

Wow I really didn't expect to find much here but there were some impressive pics. It's hard to believe what a difference a few decade's worth of technology makes in making this whole thing possible. With a camera in almost every cell phone in everyone's pocket with internet connection these days, snapping and sharing a pic in the toy aisle is a cakewalk.

Those days a film camera would have to be smuggled in, pics taken without store staff getting involved, film developing with the hopes that a shot or two came out.. Even then no scanner, no ability to share.

I still have the clearest mental of Hills back about 1990- the Turtles section in my area was absolutely stacked. Looking back, I was overly selective in my TMNT figure purchasing. You really couldn't go wrong in those days!

i know there are pics that once existed of me and my mom at six flags astro world in houston, tx from '90 or '91. There was a huge tmnt presence there in the gift shops. i'd have to find them, and sadly, i'm pretty sure they've been lost, but i remember they were taken in one of the gift shops in front of the tmnt display. they didnt really have anything you might find at a retail location (figures, vehicles etc.), but there i remember posing with an inflatable leo and a plastic jug with the turtles on it (member those...long, cylindrical, neon and with one of those big ridged straws that you could use as a whistle...) in a six flags branded tmnt hat. i'm standing in front of other merch too, like postcards, cups, and shirts. if i ever find em, i'll post em here. just thought it'd be interesting to reminisce bout non-toy store stuff too.

Sorry to bump but this is worthy, just take a look at the video below. The Turtles from 1991 of Woolworths At Signal Hill Mall. The section of the tmnt action figure aisle is shown at 0:31.

That video was awesome. Thanks so much for sharing Mikey0! Brings back memories of when I'd see TMNT toys on the shelves at the Child World that used to be in my area. Man, I miss that store.
