The social media embargo just dropped and the early reaction is extremely positive. I'm getting pretty excited for this now especially for Roger Deakins' cinematography.

I just want to know, does Vangelis actually do any score in the movie?

No, Vangelis had no involvement in this. They were going to hire a goofball named Johann Johannsson to do the score but did away with him; now the film is scored by Hans Zimmer and Ben Wallfisch.

This is just one reason I'm cautious regarding this movie. Vangelis's score helped make the original film.

I get the impression that Vangelis is kind of a recluse today.

I really liked it. It’s impeccably made, beautiful to look at, and it feels like Blade Runner. It’s a real movie too. The script doesn’t read like a little golden book, and it’s not just set pieces strung together with shot/reverse-shot exposition.

Just saw it. Definitely an entry on the "best sequels of all time" lists in the future. I did miss Vangelis a bit, but the soundtrack was perfect for this film, so it was fine. Plus, when a Vangelis piece did show up, it was done powerfully. Like that last scene, which legitimately had me choked up a bit.

It kind of irritated me at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I understood. The promotional campaign for this film was kind of garbage. It relied entirely on nostalgia, assuming everyone had seen the first film and went "look, it's Deckard". The trailers told us nothing about the film ahead of time, to the point I didn't even know what the movie was supposed to be about going in, aside from "more Blade Runner". I can imagine that enticing the more casual theatergoers among us.

There's a point where you're keeping a film so close to the vest, no one cares or wants to see it because they don't even know what it's about. You don't have to spoil anything to talk about K's search for meaning and identity. Even if they did spoil it a bit, well, they need to sell the movie and this movie has enough twists to sustain itself. I mean, hell, did they really need to act so tight lipped in the ad campaign about what K is? It's addressed up top, maybe five minutes into movie that's about fifteen minutes shy of three hours long, so matter of factly it was never meant to be a secret.

Excellent sequel, as a fan of the original movie for 26 years i thought this was a worthy and unique sequel.

I'm sad it didn't get the box office it deserved. It was great. I wanted to see what was planned for part 3... and I say that as someone that didn't even think I wanted a part 2.
