A lot of countries have declared climate emergency in recent years. A climate emergency declaration does not mean any action will be taken. It is just a declaration.

Was there a deadly hate wave in Europe in 2021 that also claimed thousands of lives? Just curious how the death toll would compare to last year’s when not that many people were fully vaccinated/boosted yet.

I am definitely not about it being 100 degrees over here all week but I'm not like panicking over it, it's f*cking July. To me, it seems like Summers have been getting milder since I was a kid. I remember many, many 100-degree days back then and nobody thought the world was ending. It was the whole reason Dad got us a swimming pool; "You live in NJ and don't have a swimming pool, you're a f*cking idiot," he said. Because it got hot. Even back then.

Likewise, we had harsher winters, too. Snow came much more often, and 3 or 4 feet wasn't uncommon. Once we were driving to the park to go sledding and had to abandon said plans because we got stuck in the snow on the shoulder of the road. You'd wake up and the front end of your parents' car would be buried. Now we get that once, twice a year at most over here.

So like, I've never taken the climate change scare-tactic stuff too seriously because it's gotten much more mild on both ends since I was a kid. I can't buy that the sky is falling when the Summers are more temperate (and rainy) and the Winters are more mild (and rainy).

Seems like More Rain is the only constant, everything else is just "Eh".
