What do you mean? X-23 as a kid can't carry a movie. She was secondary to Wolverine in this one.

A teenage X-23 at the least would be a better idea.

I agree with with Cyber, probably for different reasons, but I feel like if they did give X-21 a solo movie it would probably be better if she was old, bc its more difficult to give a character so young back story and depth. It would be interesting to see X-23 become the leader and establish a new team of X-men.

I didn't get that at all out of it. And that's dead wrong. The kids are mutants because they sampled different existing mutants' DNA to clone them... like Wolverine's, as they did in the post-credits scene of "Apocalypse." I really liked this movie (saw it yesterday after my usual D&D game) and thought it was a great end for Wolvie and Charles. I also think they are possibly setting up for a future New Mutants or X-Factor/X-Force movie(s?). Laura/X-23 and Rictor are BOTH members of X-Factor (or were when Peter David was writing the book a few years ago before I stopped buying comics due to lack of access and funds) so they could very well base a new X-movie series on them
Set in the far-off future of 2050, when they're old enough? Never going to happen.

More difficult doesn't mean impossible.
Chances are good they won't have much a choice in the matter, give that kids have this nasty tendency to grow up while the creative process slogs along.

But either that kid can handle it, or that director has an amazing ability to get top-notch performances out of child actors.

I don't mean that they're going to wait for them to get older, I mean they're not going to use recast older versions of them in some X-Men movie set in an even-more-far-off-future-than-Logan. But they're definitely not going to make some X-Men movie just with those little kids. No chance.

If anything, maybe, maybe in 5 years they might do a standalone sort of "a slightly older X-23 grappling with her father's legacy" with Daphne again kind of a thing. But I doubt it would happen and I would doubt it would be good.

Much as I'd love for her to get a movie, I hope it doesn't happen.

Not only would the studio likely micromanage and focus group the hell out of it, thus removing any of voice from the story...but they'd likely do the NYX storyline, which is just not good.

But...hey, having X-23 be a barely legal sex-worker would bring in the guys!
Because heaven forbid we augment their safespace.

Are you saying a Mexican woman couldn't carry a movie in the modern year?

X-23 will continue to appear in future movies because f-ck continuity and you're going to like it. Counting these movies come out every two years or so we'll actually see her grow in movies and eventually she'll be a part of the main cast. I mean she's already 12 so by the time the sequel to the upcoming X-Men movie comes out she'll be like 16, not really a kid anymore so she'll be able to not be the annoying kid character and have some type of action scenes.

I also think Jackman will be back as Wolverine, I saw an interview where he wasn't as "oh yeah this is the last time" just that he was retiring from wolverine in films but the wording made it seem like he's up for cameo appearances. I think it's more likely that he'd show up in the Deadpool movies as sort of a gag.

Set in the far-off future of 2050, when they're old enough? Never going to happen.

No, he specifically SAID they were trying to direct and control how mutants appeared in the world- they MADE new mutants, by using the DNA from existing mutants, because none had been born in years. (Wanda's influence?) The kids were just a "failed" experiment because they became more and more difficult to control as they got older. That's why they went with X-24- they were able to basically clone and program their own version of Logan himself. The thing with the food was their next planned experiment- introducing a mutation factor via food and water back into the population. He even TOLD Caliban that! Jeez, it was pretty blatantly spelled out....

As for setting it in the far-off future, it was already 2026, and the kids were all around 12-15 already. So no, not THAT far in the future. Maybe ten years, at most. And New Mutants are not even very old to begin with. Most of them were in their teens- Magma, Cannonball, Sunspot, Cypher, and Magick were all teens. Only Dani and Mirage were older. Dani even became a Valkyrie in Asgard in one storyline. (She was chosen by one of their pegasi mounts to be its next master- apparently the mount has to choose the Valkyrie who rides it.)

You pretty much make my point With how many super-hero movies Fox Botches I don't expect them to be able to pull something like that off.

Definitely no 15 year olds in that crowd. It was like the cast of Sandlot, minus a year or two. And it was 2029, not 2026.

How old is X-23's actress in real life? Isn't she only 10-11?

Uh, pretty sure Rictor was at least 14 or 15 there. The oldest, to be sure, but the point stands. When's the last time you saw a 10 year old as tall and mature as he was? Me? Never.

And so I was off by three years. STILL not enough to necessitate going 20 YEARS into the future for a New Mutants film! Yeesh- how slow did you think these kids would age?! (By that logic, they would all be in their late 30's by that time, and thus no longer "The New Mutants".... They'd be the senior X-team in that case.) Granted, X-Factor is a bit older (mid-20's, IIRC), but still not THAT old. And X-23 was a member of both X-Factor and X-Force- which is a much "darker" team that does things the others won't, so that fits how she was shown in Logan. She could easily fit either team in a movie. Or even NM.

Yeah.

And if they did go the route of doing a kids X-Men movie with the kids from the end of Logan, watch them have, like, Jubilee be one of the kids. It's a tradition.

You really don't think that older kid wasn't 15?
Because I don't have a hard time believing that at all.

Yep. It kinda came out of nowhere tbh. Especially since the character was made up for the movie. I'd have to watch it again to pick up on that.

It's interesting to see how quickly films are being sent to home video these days; the movie only came out in March. Didn't it used to be a 3-4 month wait, if not longer?

I wonder if Mangold is still planning on producing that black-and-white cut.
