Vol. 1 #1 Remix!
Yep! The fan made remake of the original classic first issue is now ready to be seen! Those of you who followed the thread in the fan works section know all about this, but for those of you who didn't, I'll fill you in. Each page is drawn by a member here (in some cases 2 pages per person), and they were given some creative liberties regarding the appearance of the characters. For instance, some chose to use the OT look, others stuck to the Mirage style, while many just did their own interpretation of the green teens.
All & all, this project was made for the community to come together and work on something as a group. Plus, it's a gift to the great Eastman & Laird who are the very reason many of us are into illustration/art! With Krang's permission to post it here, I bring you the Vol. 1 #1 remix! http://www.mutantooze.org/TMNT-Volum...erOneRemix.pdf Many thanks to everyone who participated, you all did great! I'll give an extra special shoutout to Master Splinter for not only laying this puppy out, and lettering it, but also hosting it on his great website, www.mutantooze.org. Points to Cartoonistaaron for a stunning cover as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBBqOTd5qzE EDIT: Wow, Nelson's p.39 cracks me up. It emulates the OT style so well with those puffy, smiling turtle faces yet is strategically positioned at a point in the story where you least expect such light-hearted sentiments. Well done, Nelson, well done. Spoiler:

Wow, this came out amazing! Everyone done a brilliant job! Its ace seeing everyone's different styles from page to page, knowing what's going to happen but not knowing how its going to look was great, for me.
Oh, and I actually let out a rather loud "HA!" on page 37. That flying eyeball!! Totally unexpected, totally fantastic. We all done a brilliant job, Master Splinter's lettering and layouts are great, and thanks a bunch for getting this together, Powder!

Hate to be a wet blanket, but I noticed a boo-boo.
Leonardo's line on pages 2-3 "He's wrong, we're not wearing costumes!" is missing.

Finally!!

This is so cool, I've read it twice already. It's very interesting to see the different styles, specially when they clash hard. Here we have Winters' chalky style, discordiatookie's action figure theatre, Andrew's real life backgrounds... and I don't know if this will sound bad, but I lol'ed at Tokka's page. Really liked the colors on 23 and 24... Oh and I'm also a fan of the flying eyeball! Also: pages 28-29 and 33 are just jaw-dropping. Too many good things to count. Thanks, everybody! |

Am I the only one seeing a blank page between Splinter getting ready to tell the origin, and the beginning of the flashback?
EDIT: My name's spelled wrong in the credits Q_Q

Page 22, I couldn't help but chuckle at "We comment in mid-air".
"Hey, you're a Turtle?!" "Hey, you're dead! Stabby stab!"

That was epic, hilarious and all-around jawesome.
I think my three favorite pages were 13 (the classical Japanese style was genius), 33 (the toy-photo thing took me completely by surprise) and 38 (the juxtaposition of the Mirage content with the perfectly replicated Archie style was jarringly awesome). Sadly, I have to confess I had no idea this project was going on since I don't frequent the Fanworks forum. This was a kick ass surprise, today. Loved it. |
