Justin is probably the busiest person at the company, I don't think he'd have the time.

If you are serious and actually curious, Hooty lived out a normal lifespan of an owl and was the first of succession of owls owned by the original Dr. Mid-nite, Charles Midnider. A typical wood owl lives between 5 to 10 years.

"How long the original Hooty lived is unknown, but McNider evidently had a succession of pet owls through the years. Hooty XIV (who had a close bond with McNider's protege Dr Beth Chapel AKA Doctor Midnight) was identified as being his pet around the time of the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Hooty XIV was apparently not as bright as the original Hooty, or so McNider had told Rick Tyler".

So in general, not just as an editor of the TMNT books but over all as a comics editor, have you ever received any odd pitches?

Ha, I was not serious on Hooty, but that's funny.

Oh yeah, i've seen tons of crazy pitches over the years. Terrible ideas, pornography, celebrity vanity projects... you name it.

Can't really get into any more specifics than that though!

Hi Bobby!

First time asking a question here, but I just have to know; What kind of paper are you using for the main TMNT book?

It seems to be of better quality than other books from DC or Marvel. I'm holding issue 56 in my hands, and it just looks "richer" with more vibrant colors and a nicer sheen.
From what i understand, the DC books are published with a 50lb #5 gloss/ 70lb covers.

Are you willing to share the secret?

Oof, I have no clue! That knowledge is all in our production and operations department. Sorry! Glad you dig it though.

So after reading through the Destroy Everthing trade, I noticed that Bebop's hair/beard was always purple no matter what timeline he was in or how long he was there, does that mean his hair just grows purple after the mutation? It seems like it would be a pain in the ass to keep long dreads dyed purple 65 million years before the invention of hair dye.

A more serious question, how does the copyright work? Does Viacom or IDW own the rights to the original characters, can Viacom adapt the stories to other forms if they want, could another publisher reprint the comics if the license goes to another publisher or does IDW have a say in that, etc.

Yeah, i'd say the dye was also mutated into his hair or something during mutation so it's permanent. Some such nonsense!

Viacom completely owns TMNT (excepting Laird's clause to produce however many issues of Mirage TMNT). They can do anything they want with it. We have a contract with them that goes up for renewal every few years. Were we to lose it, then another company chosen by Viacom could do whatever they want. I'm not sure if we'd get a cut of reprints of our catalogue or not, that business type stuff is above my pay grade.

Definitely will, it's always great to see you and the crew! Also, I don't want to flood this with con questions, but do you know when you'll be giving away wristbands to the Nick signing on Friday? I'm hoping you'll have some for grabs Thursday morning as I have to queue up for another signing on Friday morning! (ahh the sweet chaos of comic conning.)

speaking of con exclusives

You think you'll ever do anything with My little pony again or TMNT/My Little Pony crossover?

It's usually the morning of a signing. But ask around if you stop by the booth on Thursday, the marketing guys might be giving some out.

I'm sure we'll have more MLP exclusives eventually but there's not one for NYCC.

Hey Bobby, did the cartoon people talk to you guys at IDW about the whole Alopex thing? Did you guys have any input, or did they just design her the way they wanted to? (And do you guys know why she looks merrily like Ninjara)?

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

Hey Bobby! In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classics: Volume 4, why was the Richard Corben story recolored when it was originally already in colors by Corben himself. Not trying to beat down on the colorist but the original was better. But I suppose it could have been a printing issue, seeing as they might not have the original coloring at hand, and would otherwise have had to scan an old issue like they did with the Adventures comic.
