What's your tolerance for crude, obscene or gross-out humor in movies?
A lot of movies, especially comedies, have crude, gross-out or obscene humor in movies. This is mainly in romance or comedy movies, where characters will do or say something so stupid that it'll have you rolling your eyes.
Or characters made crude or obscene sex humor, eating dog poop, touching each others naked bodies by accident, a guy falling on another guys balls, etc. There's a lot of sick humor in movies. What is your tolerance for this kind of stuff? |

I think it all comes down to the company I'm with at the time. If it's a generally good movie that happens to toss something crude/obscene in, it can get awkward if watching in mixed company. I have a low tolerance for that.
But if it's just me watching and I know going into the movie what it's suppose to be like then high tolerance. There's movies you watch with friends and then you have family movies. I would not watch Human Centipede with family. My girlfriend actually had me turn that one off almost half way through. I remember watching Austin Powers as a teenager with my parents and that got a little awkward. Recently I started watching the animated movie sausage party, was lame imo. Austin Powers was the best though.

Definitely a case to case thing for me. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. Depends on a lot of factors, but there's a time & place for everything.

Depends on the movie.
If it's about crude characters Im fine with it. If the movie is generally not about that I'm ok with 1 or 2 gross jokes. As long as it's not the whole way through.

Very, very, very low tolerance. I prefer movies I can both watch with my folks as well as my niece and nephews or even my grandparents. I prefer to leave a little to the imagination.

Balls to the walls. The only South Park episode that truly disturbed me was the Woodland Creatures one. Which might have had something to do with us watching it on christmas eve.

Not a fan of it for the most part. I like movies with a good plot and something I can watch without rolling my eyes at something I don't like.

I actually like things done for shock value, especially for the sake of art or humor. Borat/Bruno didn't bother me.

Pretty low tolerance. Crude humor is not my bag. If it's one or two minor instances in an otherwise decent movie I'm ok with it- as long as it's actually FUNNY- but I generally dislike it when the entire movie is like that. The possible exceptions might be a few specific movies like Van Wilder or Waiting, where it is part of the plot, but done well. Deadpool is another one; come to think of it, all the ones like that that I mentioned were Ryan Renolds flicks, so the actors involved might have something to do with it.

Because Ryan Reynolds is such an attractive man. I get it.
Same reason a guy will put up with a lot more crap from a girl who is a 10 than one who is a 6.

Actually, I think that is only part of it. He is not just good-looking, but has a lot of genuine comedic talent, as well. Not many actors can pull that off. Brad Pitt couldn't. Same goes for Leo Di Caprio. They are considered among the hottest actors, but could never pull off that kind of low-brow humor. Ryan does. Then again, he has made a career out of it starting with Van Wilder and Waiting before he was "big". So it just seems more "natural" coming from him. Austin Powers did it well, too, and Mike Myers isn't half as attractive (in a conventional sense). So it's more about how the actor presents himself in most cases, I think. Ryan being drool-worthy is just a bonus....

Very low tolerance; I don't find it very funny in the first place and it sucks enjoyment out of it for me. There are exceptions, of course, but very few.

I'm into it. What annoys me are people who constantly complain about things like fart jokes. Farts are funny.

Also male nudity is never funny. I don't need to see a guy complaining about his balls or whatever in a movie.
I don't know why so many movie writers think seeing a guy naked is funny. |
