Rip stan lee

Stan Lee, the man who co-created Marvel Comics, has died ... TMZ has learned.

We're told an ambulance rushed to Lee's Hollywood Hills home early Monday morning and he was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. We're told that's where he died.

Lee had suffered several illnesses over the last year or so -- he had a bout of pneumonia and vision issues.

Stan started Marvel with Jack Kirby in 1961 with The Fantastic Four. He went on to create Spider-Man, Black Panther, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Iron Man and The Avengers.

Stan made cameo appearances in all of the Marvel movies.

Lee had a rocky relationship with Marvel once the company went full-tilt Hollywood. He sued the company in 2002 for royalties he said he was owed for the first "Spider-Man" movie. Three years later he settled the case for $10 million.

Lee is survived by his daughter, Joan. His wife of 69 years, also named Joan, died in 2017.

Joan tells TMZ, "My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man."

Lee was 95.

Looks like this time it's real. 95, though... any of us should be so lucky.

Even though I couldn't give a damn about Marvel and don't really pay attention to celebrities, I knew who Stan Lee was. He was definitely a legend of the entertainment business. He also seemed like a nice old man with a lot of energy and health for a man in his 90s. This news doesn't really affect me as much as it affects Marvel fans, and I'm also not very surprised he passed away because he was quite old already and he was hospitalised not too long ago, iirc. Old people can be in pretty good form one day and then suddenly break a bone or get another health issue and suddenly get a lot worse and eventually pass away not too long after.

May he rest in peace. I'm sure he had a full life and he doesn't have many regrets. He seems to have made it to his 90s without any major health issues for the most part. Not many are as lucky.

This is without a doubt one of the saddest days in the world of Marvel. I was fortunate to have him take a photo with me at a small expo back in 2016. What he contributed to the world of comics, TV and film is beyond remarkable. R.I.P.

I hope the rumors are true that he did a bunch of random skits to be inserted into many, many Marvel movies from now into the future "just in case." Even if not, the odds are still pretty good he'll have cameos in Avengers 4 and Captain Marvel regardless.

I wish I could have thanked Stan for all the joy his imagination brought into my life. What a legend.

People call him a "real life superhero" and you might think it's hyperbole until you think about the fact that without his hard work and creativity, these characters who inspired so many and brought happiness to so many would not exist. A true superpower, in my eyes.

Very well put. He has had such an impact on media and modern culture its ridiculous. He helped create so many beloved characters with the help of some incredible artist and help create a higher standard for the comic industry in regards to story telling. He will sorely be missed. But damn I will probably cry at the end of the next Marvel movie now when I see those words "In memory of....."

This is really depressing. The man was way more active than he should have been at his age, I honestly wish he spent the last few years of his life relaxing. If he had done that I'd be a little less sad to see him go.

RIP. One of the greats in comic books. With his passing a comic era is over.

Jack Kirby, Bob Kane, Jerry Robinson, Bill Finger, Jerry Siegel, and others from the golden age abount the 1940's up to the 1960's are all gone. Lee was part of that. Years ago I was watching a Batman move that had something on Bob Kane, and Lee was there with Kane to see the opening of the 1989 Batman movie, and Kane would joke with Lee with lines I don't see a Spiderman movie . Yeah they loved joking around with each other.

Did anyone here ever get to meet him? Even at a signing or something? Just stories to share and such.

I just started the Raimi trilogy. I might squeeze in an episode or two of the 90s animated series between movies, then finish off today slinging around the city with some Spider-Man PS4.

RIP, Stan.
