It's not that hard to understand, it's really not. I'm pretty sure five year olds get why "Ice cream and anchovy pizza" is meant to be funny, it's as basic as a joke gets.

Yes, but when it comes to Donatello's technobabble, it's at least better to be between 6-12 somehwere.

Gravimetric interferance, trimetric fracture, strong quantum resonance, chroniton particles, temporal fragmentation, anti-neutron field, isoneutronic pulse wave carrier, chronoton-infused serum, quantum protonic state. I made one of them up, guess which one. Spoiler:

I just always assumed it was meant for both 5 and 7-13 year old kids just like Disney films which all age groups, including adults manage to enjoy.
I discovered the Old toon when I was 15 and loved it ever since. |

It really depends on what incarnation of the show the individual has viewed.

Those are typically explained to you very early on, you don't need to be seven or older to get it.

I think the best way to answer this question would be a poll of some kind. I lurk here far more than I post, but I have noticed that teens are in these forums.
I first got into TMNT at 5 in '89 and never quite got out of it. |

It's no secret that FW TMNT wasn't the most sophisticated in terms of writing, a show like The Real Ghostbusters is better in that regard. However the show came at the right time to engage with my imagination so I appreciated it more. It had Star Trek technobabble for kids and that combined with the plots won me over. I got into Star Trek around the same time but found the latter more difficult to understand due to it's terminology.
