Christmas Playlist
'Tis the season, as they say, and I'm wondering what sorts of yuletide songs y'all like to listen to. I tend to lean towards tracks that are original to break the usual traditional jingles (though those jingles are nice, too). I compiled a little list of songs I like to crank out every year to get me in the mood for some holiday cheer. Feel free to do the same if you like.
And here's one that's a bit more conventional:
Glad tidings.

I like to start my playlist with the Thanksgiving song “Alice’s Restaurant Massacree” by Arlo Guthrie. I know it’s Thanksgiving but I think it’s appropriate to start a Christmas playlist.
Then I have a bunch of Mannheim Steamroller songs. After that, my playlist is as follows: Frosty The Snowman by Jimmy Durante May You Always by Harry Harrison (for New Year’s Day but it sounds like Christmas to me) Last Christmas by Wham! Merry Christmas Wherever You Are by Judy Collins Tiny Angels by Roger Whittaker Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley |

Wizards in Winter by Trans-Siberian Orchestra is an absolute must. That gets extra volume.
It's not complete without some of the songs from The Polar Express. Amy Grant's Grown Up Christmas List... love it, but damn it gets me every time. Where Are You Christmas, Faith Hill, is right behind that one, but no moist eyes. Here we go, because I needed to go play it again. edit: And now the [north] polar opposite in tone. Okay, gonna go cry over it. (Then replay the other one.) Last edited by IndigoErth; 12-17-2023 at 03:58 PM. |
