The first three are close, but I don't like Nick Donnie much.

It was a close call between Leo and Mikey, but I chose Leo. When I first watched the show, I kept thinking Mikey was Beast Boy, probably because I was so used to Teen Titans

Yah, I wouldn't mind Donnie being focus of the series if they wrote his character in character.

To me this Donnie feels all wrong, the love triangle doesn't do him any favors.

I used to love Donnie's character too, in all the shows he was always my second favorite.

Leo's always been my favorite but this series really made me love the guy even more, for the first time ever I'm starting to like Mikey but if only they wrote him like what he was in that Dimension X episode all the time

Raph would be third, if they used him more and added more for him than maybe my opinion on his character would change. In the 4Kids series, man what a hot head

Raphael has always been my favourite turtle, in every version except 2k3. However, I do like this Raph especially. He has depth and it seems to me that the Raph we have seen so far is a younger, softer, less embittered Raph and we are actually seeing him on a journey into something far darker than we have seen from him yet. I'm intrigued to see what they do with him in future episodes.

One of the biggest attractions to this Raphael is Sean Astin. He is a genius and has done a really good job voicing him.

Definitely Mikey. I always have a thing for the goofy loveable characters in series since I can relate to them the most.

I just wish Nick would make more Mikey-Centric episodes that are bit more serious (like the Dimension X epi) and show off more of his raw talent.

As for the others, they all tie 2nd place in my heart. I just can't choose between them. I love them all.

Raph & Mikey always been the more popular to the fans than Leo & Donnie were to the older fans based on what the 80s show or 1st movie did for them. The main purpose of the show was to try and balance the popularity of all the turtles when they attracted the new viewers, meaning the turtles focused on are the ones that needed the most help. So they've been given story arcs, that while many on here don't particularly care for, helps with the viewer they're trying to bring in.

I'm not trying to be a dick here, I've just been saying that maybe who you like most in the show has nothing to do with how much focus they have in the show and maybe more so because it's the character you were exposed to as a kid growing up loving. Is that fair?

Maybe for some people that is the case but not for me. Throughout my childhood Mikey was my favourite hands down, none of the other 3 came close. I surprised myself when watching the 2k3 cartoon as an adult to discover that Raph was my favourite turtle in that show with Donnie as a very close second. With 2k12 it's Raph again but closely followed by Leo. In the comics I find it harder to decide, although in IDW I'm swaying towards Donnie. So they all get fair game with me.

That's a very interesting observation, and I suppose inevitable due to human nature: we will all have a favourite based on something about the character that appealed to us or was relatable.

I suppose an interesting take on the poll would be to ask the question: when has your favourite turtle not been your favourite? And why?

For example, I've always loved Raph because even when young (I'm an older fan - in my 30s), I related to his angst because I was angsty, but was comforted by the fact that he had a softer, more emotional side. I suppose in some way his character helped me understand myself a bit better because at the age of, say, 10, I didn't really understand why I felt compelled to exhibit anger when actually what I felt was sadness. So in most versions I love him just as much, but I HATED his portrayal in 2k3 because they removed a lot of the frailty of his character. Yes, he had a couple of moments but in the main he was brutish and primitive and just aggressive. That in itself speaks something of the elements of Raphael that are important character traits to me.

I don't think I can buy this. I just think Donnie is getting the focus because he is the primary executive producer's favorite Turtle. Nothing more, nothing less! Raph got focused in the 1990 movie and 2007 movie because the directors of those movies came right out and admit he was their favorite.

I LOVED Leo in season one. His dorky little wannabe hero shtick was just so endearing. He slowly became more boring throughout season two, and now that he's been recast twice he just doesn't feel the same.

It may be true that some fans want to stick with their preferred turtle from when the watched other incarnations. However for me this is not the case.
In the 80's and 2003 Donnie was my favourite turtle, while in the movies it was all about raph for me. In 2012 Mikey is now my favourite and Donnie my least.
This may be that I've changed as I've grown up and I could relate to each of their personalities in a different time in my life.
That being said I tried very hard to like Donnie more in 2012, but you just can't force that sort of thing because it doesn't feel real.

Well.. my favorite is a my favorite for a reason- I like his personality and can relate to him. As long as that stays true to character I don't see my choice changing.

My 'secondary favorite' changes depending on the incarnation- OT it was Mikey, 90's movies Donnie, and 2012 is Leo.

2012 Donnie is the closest I've come to actually disliking a turtle, but as long as April isn't around he's alright.
