The other day I was walking my dog. A tall, heavy, young black guy told me, "that's racist!"

He looked so afraid of my dog. I don't get it. She's like 15 lbs, small, blond, with fancy long hair on her tail and elbows. Most people think she's some kind of super adorable special luxury breed. I never let her off leash except in her fenced backyard, and I always hold her back out of people's way. Terrifying, right? Totally worth trying to start a racial incident.

I tried to think if I was wearing anything that could have been offensive. Cream colored check button-up and gray slacks. Sunglasses? I might have also been wearing my Chuckie Cheese Birthday Star medallion. Does a gold medal resemble some racist symbol I'm oblivious to? Is it because the lanyard is red, white and blue and patriotism is racist?

Some people are just deathly afraid of dogs, I get that. I have my own stupid phobia, but I don't have any oppression cards to whip out when the mood strikes.
