I'm grudgingly OK with 7 being left alone... but 8 needs to receive Rogue One/Solo levels of reshoots. Let's do that. Pause 9 for a while... we can wait another year for 9 as long as we get a "real" 8.
Is Benicio Del Toro even in 9? What a useless character.

Perhaps I should have said, "The best case scenario within reason."
And yeah, she was awful. Added nothing. And her action figures were clogging up Clearance pegs for almost an entire goddamn year. Totally unnecessary character, once you get past the flimsy "This movie has Too Many Honkies" argument. Aside from "Hey, we got a ____! 50 Diversity Points!", she added absolutely nothing.

I just couldn't wait to leave, by that point. My eyes couldn't roll any farther back and I was like, "Y'know, whatever." Because they so weren't getting me back by then.
But yeah, that was bad. Super cheesy. But hey, nothing in that movie adhered to logic, so what's one more dumb decision?

Or just have the Luke Skywalker Ray encountered on Ach-to turn out to just be a force projection, and the Real luke has spent the 30 years since the battle of Endor secretly training a new army of Jedi. (the students Kylo killed were just one small group of students in one location; Luke had several academies hidden throughout the galaxy, each training small numbers of new Jedi, and he travels from academy to academy)

if they had actually set it up to be that way, that might be more interesting.

It'd be great if the trailer was just:
- Black background - Cue the traditional opening score - Star Wars logo - The words "We're VERY Sorry" in large, bold letters for the opening scroll, followed by a slightly smaller, "This one's better, We Promise." - End trailer I swear, I'd forgive them for EVERYTHING, if they had the self-awareness to just do THAT and nothing else.

We STILL have JJ Abhrams, who is no better than kathleen kennedy calling movie shots. I never imagined there would be a day where I just wouldn't give a damn a bout star wars, or a trailer coming out, but here we are. There was so much HOPE going in to episode 7. the pre production releases before the movie came out was fun. seemed like a happy attitude. then the movie came out, and it was like The Phantom Menace all over again (I've seen this done before, but better, and with less new material to keep me interested) then the political crap came in to further dampen things and that was it for me. done. I STILL don't own episode 8, R1 or Solo on blu ray.

Those "Black Label" or whatever 6-inch figures are sooooo cooool, though. I gotta get me some'a them. And yeah, I actually don't own any of the new stuff on disc. Sh*t's prohibitively expensive for no reason. Another side-effect of The Disney Effect; "We're gonna price all our sh*t $10 more than everything else because we know you'll pay for it, you f*cking chimps." EVERY other movie drops to $10-15 on Blu-ray after 6-8 months. But anything Star Wars or Disney in general is gonna stay $25-35 for YEARS. For no reason other than "We Can."

*sigh* I do find myself still rooting for JJ with this one... but he's got a whole hell of a lot to do in one movie, including retroactively making the last two "matter." It's not unlike a football game where the other team has been running the ball and the score is like 30/0 in the fourth quarter.

Here's the latest from Todd Fisher about the archival footage of Leia that will be used in Episode IX.

Ugh.
I don't know how to feel about this. I mean, if it is played as some recorded footage in the movie - it is one thing, if they somehow insert it onto "modern" story - it's another. I mean, it's inevitable that dead actors will "play" more roles as the technology marches on, but it still makes me feel a bit uneasy, for the lack of better word. |

I'm pretty sure it's the latter, or mostly the latter. And it sounds like it is less just plugging them into the movie as it is crafting stuff around what was shot with her, in reverse.
