2007 TMNT Bootleg Don + Raph SEIZED BY CUSTOMS, Signed by Laird

TMNT Bootleg Don + Raph SEIZED BY BRITISH UK CUSTOMS, Signed and "unhappy turtle sketch" by Peter Laird RARE.

What you are looking at is a bootleg toy seized by UK Customs in 2007 with sticker on back. The packaging is well worn and several creases can be seen in the photos. I would estimate the card to be a 55 or 60. The toys and accessories are (mint on card) 85 MOC. The toy was shipped back from UK to US, New York, and was sent from New York to the Mirage Studios headquarters in North Hampton, MA. The toy was put up for auction on Mirage Studios official ebay account.

I bid and won on the item in 2014 and sent a secure message via ebay to inhouse Mirage Studios office manager, Dan Berger, and unconventionally requested that Peter Laird autograph the bootleg toy. To my surprise, he DID sign it and this time sketched a never before seen "unhappy turtle sketch" on the toy. I have the emails, and receipt, and COA for this item as well.

I find the unhappy turtle thing really funny because it's on a bootleg

Looks like they are knocking off Figuarts. Saw a few from Hong Kong on Ebay of Raph. Plus Leo and Don on Aliexpress.

I have to admit I am not 100% about the Raphs. I just wondered given the location. I didn't think they had even been sold yet outside of comi con. As for the ones on Aliexpress. Going through their TMNT listings I tend to think they specialize in bootleg TMNT. I didn't really mean any gaurantees. That's why I said looks like.

On Aliexpress, if they have the red "hot toy" frame, they're legit.

And they are very expensive.

I think the problem here is one of reverse logic.
These SHF turtles are, for the US, import toys. Therefore they are going to be sold here and seen here first.
Alibaba is only the biggest global market on the planet, and can, as a rule, be trusted. It's not in any traders interest to sell illegal goods. Especially at premium prices!!
If you see a SHF Raph at $20, then steer clear!! Haha

So, has this been on here?

The cherry on top?

It's bubble gum. So what Rufio the Red Nosed Reindeer and Donayellow the Bear are doing with a pencil and toilet paper, I don't know. Not even sure what Leonard has. Miguel with yoyos isn't too far off.

I'd say that was more of a spoof than a bootleg. They were sold as something akin to garbage pal kid cards where each one had a spoof of a movie.

funny thing is, I enjoy a lot of these bootlegs. especially the really weird ones. I find them to be a big part of the tmnt history.

So a bootleg blog on tumblr posted a few beauties

Spoiler:

"Recommending specially" or as I call it "Raphael likes sports"
Spoiler:

Splinter just looks so lost...so confused. Wondering why his son has decided to take up soccer.

In the far back, behind the Frozen Terror, a clearly non-turtle in a Turtle package
Spoiler:

And my favorite
Spoiler:

It looks like he's making a silent cry for help.

Heroes of the World Fighter is pretty cool stuff. I think I have a random dwarf and Donatello.

There's a bloke online who did fanart of the figures. I wish I remember who it was though...
