Reviewed one of the rarest tmnt toys out there. I reviewed an unopen Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Next Mutation Turtleflage Don's Camo Hydro Skimmer. Now I was not able to go into full detail because I do not want to ruin the beauty of this unopen toy but it is a rare find to review a toy worth close to a thousand dollars!

1991 TMNT Pie Exclusive Belt Buckle

Several TMNT food products have been produced over the years.
Hostess TMNT Pies being one of the more rare food related items. The TMNT pies were made from 1990-1991.

Each pie wrapper included 1 "Pudding Point" which could be used to acquire 1 of 4 mail away items. One such item is the Turtle Shell Belt Buckle which could store items inside of it.

The following description is quoted straight from the pie advertising card included with each pie.

"Exclusive! This unique buckle clips onto your belt and opens for a secret compartment! Or, remove the lid and display a picture of your heroes in a half shell! $2.50 with 3 pudding points."

You may have noticed that the Buckle looks similar to the 1989 Burger King Rad Badge. I have included comparison photos.

Any memories you wanna share surrounding this mail away? When was your first time ever seeing this piece of TMNT memorabilia. General thoughts regarding turtle pies?

I for one have consumed a fair amount of Hostess products over the years. But unluckily was never able to indulge in one of the TMNT pies. I definitely missed out.

At least now I can look at the Buckle and think of what it might have been like to send away for this item after finishing a pie and being buzzed on sugar.

If I have any information incorrect please feel free to post an update in this thread. If you want to look at more TMNT pie collectibles check this out.

TurtleWA - it's great to see someone else finding a Turtle Pies Belt Buckle. And I love the comparison photos with the Burger King Rad Badge. They HAD to have been made by the same company. The only piece of info that was incorrect in your post was the date of the pies' existence. They were only released for part of 1991. Initially they were planned for a 20-week release from February til June/July 1991, but they appear to have lasted as long as September. Either way, great find. I'd love to hear how you tracked the belt buckle down.

Also, I've compiled everything I've learned about Turtle Pies into an Instagram account @ninjaturtlepies if anyone is interested in learning more!

Sent you a PM. And thanks for the information surrounding the dates of the pie manufacturing, very fascinating. I would have guessed a longer period of time.
