So, it’s all basically landfill? Interesting. Millennials and Gen Zers give these toys much value today.

So if something isn't widely sought-after and used 50 years after it comes out it's worthless and should never be made in the first place? You raise some very oddball arguments.

You like to act like nobody in their right mind would find any sort of enjoyment from today's toys just because you think they're inferio. Do you realize you're on a toy forum? People literally come here because they're excited to talk about toys. Vintage toys included, yes, but also (and mostly at this point) modern toys. SHFiguarts, NECA, Super7, MegaBloks, etc etc etc. Just because YOU think something is worthless and not worth your time or money doesn't mean nobody else does. You'd do well to try to realize that. It would save you a ton of redundant posting.

Sorry for my bias arguments. I don’t see how modern action figures serve a purpose like the ones from the 20th century. The play value is what made our favorite toy lines from the 80s so great. Toys for children in this century overall seem to be taking a backseat to technology. The purpose to these collectibles for adults is lost on me. I’ll try to read the rest of the responses on this thread without interjecting with my redundant posts.

Kids don't play with toys anymore, thus, most of the good toys are made for adult collectors.

Adults also (generally speaking) don't "play" with toys, they are mostly for display purposes. Thus, sculpting and articulation are the primary factors rather than "playability". They don't need to stand up to being chewed on by the pet dog or flushed in the toilet by someone's little brother; they just need to look good on a shelf in a variety of poses.

It's really not very complicated.

Why haven’t the good toys today been best sellers for any Christmas in the past ten years? Adult collectors have more buying power than parents do.

I don't pay attention to any of that stuff, so I wouldn't know.

The fact that most of the best Adult Collector stuff is produced in such limited quantities is probably a factor, though. But that's just a guess.
