What is this upgrading you guys talk about... I still have the same little flip phone I had when I posted back in Jan 2015. lol

I barely use my cell either, which is why I don't bother. You say "thank god" for only $30/mo, but that still sounds ridiculous to me and is the reason I have not bothered to "upgrade." That adds up to an absurd amount of money for something I'd hardly even use and I hate that those costs have been normalized and there are hardly any real phone plan options anymore for people who simply need one, but don't use it much.

I still have Virgin Mobile's old, now grandfathered, $20 for 3 months prepaid plan. So you can probably see why going from $20 to $90 (or more) per 3 months is really unappealing. And there is no upgrading with them without losing this cheap plan so... meh. I'll keep it for as long as I can.

I used to tell myself I'd never spend more than $50 a month for "a damn phone." Somehow my bill every month is like $110 and it stopped striking me as weird.

Weird.

For one phone or is that a family plan?

I was on verizon 1GB plan since 2010 and I was paying $57 a month.

Then I switched to Sprint and got grandfathered into a $30 plan since I left Verizon for them. Even better is it's unlimited data so I can "surf the web" as much as I want and not get an overcharge.

I also almost never play games on my phone, since you know, I play "real" videogames. But now that Nintendo is putting stuff like Mario Kart and Pokemon Masters on the phone, and Super Mario Run which I bought...I may actually have to get into "mobile phone gaming." Leave it to Nintendo to sucker me in to paying for mobile phone games.

You can use one of those carriers that's meant for old people that are cheap.

Got a new phone recently. Samsung Galaxy A10. It even came with a free 32GB microSD card. Never had that happen. Talk about a great deal.

lol Still don't think they're as cheap.

Though I have since last night come across a couple of somewhat similarly priced prepaid plans via AT&T and T-Mobile and saved the info for future reference if I ever need it.

I'm an idiot. It wasn't 2 hours after I picked up my S10+ that I went with it on a run, just 4 hours before I would receive my Otterbox case for it. When I sat on the steps in front of my house it fell out of my pocket a grand total of about 2 or 3 inches and cracked diagonal corners of the screen fairly badly. There doesn't appear to be any cheap solution to repair the glass.

I’ve had a iPhone 5s for a couple of years now but it got a huge crack in the screen, so have been thinking about getting a new one, preferably a bigger one to accommodate my big fingers lol

My mom pays for my monthly phone fee, it used to be like 50NOK until that plan stopped existing, now it’s 150NOK for 2gb starting October (used to be 1gb)

Wow, if it can't survive a three inch fall without breaking, the company should replace that for you. Imo.

Or at least make it easy (and free for a limited period post-purchase) to get a new screen if their product is really that fragile.

edit: Another reason to stick to my little tank of a flip phone.

Is anyone here a Boost Mobile customer with a prepaid plan? Or a fellow now former Virgin Mobile customer who has it figured out already.

Question: Does boost have a prepaid balance limit?

I can't find an answer to that. For Virgin it was $400. (Via an old plan that didn't exist anymore to new customers.) I don't use this phone much so my present balance is not too far from that. Would be very helpful to know this, but Boost's site just isn't providing that info.

Haven't kept up and just learned today, while trying to pay, that Virgin USA is merging with Boost and my account was transferred this week.

I don't know jack sh*t about this stuff. I've had the same phone for about 3 or 4 years, think it's a Motorola Android or something, and I pay $20 a month. My wife handles the bill, I just give her the cash. I don't even know who my service provider is. It does more than I honestly need it to, so I really can't complain.

Every time I hear people go on about their expensive fancy phones and hundred-dollar phone bills I have to laugh and shake my head. Especially when some of them get a new phone every year or less just because a newer model comes out. I pretty much only even have one because it's a work necessity, and because my closest friends refuse to use Facebook or any social media whatsoever, and thus texting is how we keep in touch.

Are you telling me that you wouldn't want a $1000 iPhone and then pay an extra $50 a month for the right to use the thing??

Cripe, that's laptop money. Imagine buying a laptop for that and then having to pay a monthly fee to use the thing.

I'm quite happy to keep using my low cost little old flip phone for as long as it keeps on working. Always been good for on the job since it's small and a lot less breakable than smart phones.

Yeah but what's the porn situation? That's like the other half of the reason why I need this thing. Works just fine for that.

That's cheap. I pay about $115 a month, and that's after a corporate discount.

I have the iphone6S which I got for free due to a promotion, (I've never paid for a phone), and I pay only $31 a month for Sprint with unlimited internet, phone, etc.

I have no reason to upgrade and at only $31 a month to use every feature on it and surf the internet, watch whatever, it's perfectly worth it. I feel like I cheated the system.

lol Well, you're honest. Content aside, I'd much rather view video via my computer screen anyhow, not a little phone screen, so... meh?

Same, generally, but for some reason the laptop has a Blocker on it so I can't peruse certain websites. Not even just porn but some other stuff too, it's weird. But I'm not generally online enough to pitch a fit about it; any websites I can't see on my laptop I can still check on my phone, including sexy naked people.

Obviously in a perfect world we'd ALL be able to see Sandra Romain display her numerous "talents" in glorious HD on a 90-inch screen, but sadly, it's not a perfect world.
