rofl... but yeah, those were more like school bullies, not like a real street gang like the Purple Dragons are supposed to be. I assume it's due to the whole 'limited costs for new models' thing.

Why does it matter? He's a pretty obscure character, with 1 episode, 2 Archie issues, and a figure to his name. It ain't like they're doing a new evil mutant Turtle and naming him Spike....oh crap.

But I don't understand why use the same animal for a new mutant when there's an already existing character.

I like Dogpound and Old Hob since previous dog and cat mutants were obscure and never seen.

Scumbug appeared in the show, two Archie issues...which is still more than you can say for some other mutants.

You like Hob NOW. Back when he was just a new name for a new cat mutant, you pitched the same fit.

He can still be Scumbug, Dogpund's real name is Chris Bradford. For all we know Chong might alias himself as Scumbug, or not.

Slash is almost definitely coming. Playmates rereleased his figure in 2009 because they like him and they can probably ask Nick to include him if he wasn't the plan already. Slash has already returned in IDW so they're aware of his popularity.

Rahzar/Tokka have the popularity of the second movie to remember them by, we'll see if they ever get included in a series again though.

Maybe Michaelangelo renames Chong Scumbug when he mutates?

I really hope Vam Mi doesn't get forgotten, she was awesome.

EDIT: Chong is a girl, not to mention a mindless beast.

.... I hope Don has his pet roach for several eps. I mean Raph had Spike by ep 1 and he's already a recurring character. Having Don get a pet roach and have it mutate the same episode just feels tacked on. And who the hell wants a pet roach anyway??? I'm worried Spike would try to eat it.

Who do you mean Chien Khan, Verminator-X and Hallocat from the Archie series and Scratch from Radical Rescue? How were they "never seen"?

Scratch was a very obscure character who appeared in one videogame that most never saw him in and a "bastardized version" of him was Hallocat in Archie in one crappy issue nobody liked.

Chien Khan is a bit more prominent, but again the Archie books are now rather obscure to the people who didn't grow up with them in the 90's.

Old Hob and Dogpound are the first time cat and dog mutants have a major role in their respective series.

..."in my opinion."

There are actual links showing how Hallowcat became Scratch. Radical Rescue, though hard seems to be fairly well liked, as it was a Metroid-style TMNT game making it a welcome change from the standard beat 'um up. And I'm sure there are people who enjoyed that "one crappy issue." I know I didn't think it was that bad.

I actually love Archie #27.

Also... "bastardized"? Can you even bastardize a "character" like Scratch?

TMNT Radical Rescue on Gameboy was the least selling Turtle game on that system, wasn't it? Also most people never made it through the game due to the high difficulty and maze-like world. I didn't even know Scale Tail was in the game until a few years ago.

And Scratch is more known due to the rarity of his action figure than anything else. No appearance in the cartoon, the Archie version of him was practically a different character, and one appearance in one of the less popular Konami videogames from the classic era.

Seriously, everyone will always remember characters like Rahzar/Tokka simply because everyone rewatches TMNT II. People will remember Bebop/Rocksteady because they got 150 episodes of screentime. People remember Slash because he's being brought back by IDW.

Now Groundchuck and Dirtbag could go either way, I could see them either joining the "obscure" character pile or remaining a bit more well known, due to the Turtleoids 1-hour episode, their second episode in Season 7, and the TMNT III game on NES.

How is Hallocat a "bastardized" scratch when he appeared years before him? Wasn't there another mutant cat in Archie Verminator X?

Vam Mi was a Chinese Vampire villain in the Live-Action TV series Ninja Turtles: Next Mutations featuring a new 5th turtle Venus de Milo.
