Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars Episode 8 has officially started filming, so I thought I make this thread for all discussion about Episode 8, whether its photos and BTS videos from the filming.

Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran have been cast, I'm curious what type of role would fit Benicio Del Toro, he could either be a First Order officer or a member of the resistance, the same for Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran

I'm saying it now, Luke will die in this movie and come back as a Force Ghost in Episode 9. Everyone remember this post now in Feb. 2016....2 years from now in late 2017 you will see that I am very right.

Star Wars has turned into Hamlet, King Lear, and Romeo and Juliet. All the main characters die. Its so sad. All the prequel characters HAD to die because that's where the story went, but now we know all the original characters will die too. I'm willing to bet Leia will be the only one to survive the new trilogy.

It was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. They're all dead, you lunatic. Quit whining.

Leia may very well be the only character to survive. The only problem is keeping Carrie Fisher alive.

She's only 60 years old. By the time Episode 9 comes out she'll only be around 65. Barring anything like cancer she'll survive the new trilogy.

I hope Episode VIII resets the table accordingly... nothing even happened in VII and we are equally as clueless about the political landscape as we were when the movie starts (and yes, I realize there are probably books and crap that get into all of that but I shouldn't have to read them to understand). I guess it's inferred that the New Republic started the Resistance in order to plausibly deny things so the Resistance can quietly fight the First Order... but... why does the New Republic need to worry about that? Wouldn't the First Order be the Resistance, if anything? I'm not even sure it's mentioned in the film, but apparently that was the New Republic capital world among the three planets destroyed in the weird Starkiller blasts (that must be travelling at hyperspeed and yet... appear to just be crawling around at sub-light speeds). Why wasn't Coruscant still the capital world?

More than anything I'm worried Disney will diverge from where I think Lucas was taking things. The original trilogy presented kind of a romanticized version of the Jedi in retrospect, that sort of carried off into the EU novels and stuff with Luke starting the new Jedi Academy, this whole new generation of Jedi Knights, etc., but I'm not sure that's what Lucas intended at all. When we meet the Jedi Knights in the prequels, we actually learn that their way was flawed and they were kind of a$$holes that sort of deserved to be snuffed out, or at least their order shoved aside. If things were to continue beyond Episode VI, while I'm sure there might be new crops of Force users, I don't think there would have been a return to the order of the Jedi.

It will not happen but it is legal to have Mickey Mouse, Spider-Man, and Buzz Lightyear face Darth Vadar in a movie since they are all under the same umbrella of ownership.

Possible spoilers for the film. Until the movie is widely released it is a rumor.

Looks like the title for Star Wars Episode 8, might be "Star Wars: Fall of The Resistance"

How would people feel if Luke dies in Episode 8 and comes back as a Force ghost in Episode 9?

Would people be angry if both Luke and Han are killed off and Leia is the only surviving character of the original trilogy?

Force ghost is a cool idea so I'd be down for it.

I like the idea of Luke ghost but it'd mean that the new trilogy is only continuing to ripoff the original trilogy. I mean who would kill him? Kylo Ren?

It depends. Han's death didn't outrage people because it worked; it played its part in the story and will continue to do so in future installments.

If they do that with Luke, people will have the same reaction. If they kill him purely for shock value, then people will be pissed.
