There was a sales thread here in 2010 where people were fighting to outbid each other over these via PM.. where have they all gone?

Haha, maybe! I know toys and figures are king as far as collecting for this property. I'm continually amazed at how quickly Eastman has been selling out of his personal loose, repackaged action figure collection lately, at any price.

I've been collecting tmnt on and off for almost 30 years. It's been interesting to see the collecting trends throughout the years. #1, 1st printing will always stay in demand. It will be interesting to see what happens to the more obscure stuff though.
