Sorry to hear that, poor little things. At least they were in your care and got a chance.
Funny not really quite a grind... Scene: Me with gummy vitamin bottle with just one remaining and wondering if I got shorted one or got one extra, because I know I had not dropped any. Open new bottle and go to retrieve the single remaining from old to put it in the new. It doesn't work out. Me: Oh, so that was the one meant for the floor. |

This is one reason why I didn't like the idea of Talkin'Toons going to Alpha.
Apart from the fact that you had to pay now, there was ALWAYS the chance that the service shutting down will cause havoc for TTs fans. The ONLY reason I subscribed to aLpha was TT's....and even then it was a pain in the neck finding it as you couldn't directly bookmark it...and I wound up not watching it as much, when the free weekly podcast was an instant listen. even when i didn't know the guest. darn shame. TT's was a great home made success story.

Grr. Lemmie just say, men will never know to true disgust of just innocently looking up, for example, bike shorts for themselves on eBay, in hopes of finding a particular brand for cheaper, and having their eyes assaulted with crap that looks like it belongs in porn (aka see-through junk, fishnets, hoochie-looking crap, etc). Just wtf...
I mean, some of that kind of stuff on eBay is so ridiculous that it's laughable, but as search results for this is just kind of irritating. Last edited by IndigoErth; 10-01-2019 at 06:59 PM. |

Oh, I hear ya. I've looked up doll clothing, only to find- well, let's just say "wrong kind of doll/clothes".... Among other searches gone wrong. On a sadder note, this happened Friday but I haven't really been on since, so.... The two kittens that we had rescued a couple of weeks ago have died. Not sure why, as our friend who had taken them to give them a new home said they had been eating and eliminating well, and were becoming adventurous, and then suddenly just stopped, and died shortly after. I feel as if somehow we failed them, even though we had no real way to feed them on the round-the-clock schedule they needed, and she could. It's just sad, knowing we were trying to do what was best, and it ended so tragically. Last edited by MsMarvelDuckie; 10-02-2019 at 04:50 PM. |

Sorry to hear it turned out that way.
I doubt it was you guys, esp since it sounds like they were doing pretty good beforehand. You just never know what might be going on internally that you have no control over. We had pretty much the same thing happen with three bunnies back when I was a teen. Young enough that their eyes were still closed when we took them in. Kept them fed and got them far along enough that their eyes were open and moving around, and eventually doing well enough that I was able to take them out now and then and sit in the grass with them in the backyard. Similarly, they were doing good, and then a short time later they just mysteriously died one after the other. No idea why. We assumed maybe they'd had a defect or something. I'm not all that certain about rabbits, but I will say that kittens do have a high mortality rate. Fading kitten syndrome is a common threat to them.
However, Utromaniac, Duckie, and you Indigo, did the best that you could do in your own way: you tried to help them out when they were the most vulnerable. |

I'm just not used to losing so many kittens so quickly. It's basically never happened to me until the last week.
The other three are doing great; the boys need to put on weight, but they're fine.

Hope they're still doing good a week later?
Grind... Oh joy, time for the marmorated stink bugs to once again invade our homes, esp in this region. Have a couple inside already. Have seen a couple more outside the windows plotting their entry. |

So we're down to one kitten, and we're keeping her. I've "earned" her as my parents described. She's MY cat after all the hellfire I've been through with the others.
It's been a few days since the last one died, but the final one is healthy and still gaining weight. And she's best friends with the two big boys.

Aww, sorry to hear that, Utrom. Do you know what happened? Was it fading kitten, or something else? I was sad to hear that the pair we rescued had gone in much the same way. I guess sometimes you just can't help them, no matter what you do.

One of our own cats not doing well. Thought we were going to lose him this afternoon. Though I'm still not expecting him to be with us too much longer, sad to say. Has had issues for a while, but has really kind of gone down hill these past couple of weeks.
My mom had been sitting with him in her lap because he was breathing kind of heavily, rather limp, pale tongue, and having these involuntary muscle jerks/spasms for a while. Wasn't really acting like he could see either. Conscious enough to cry sometimes, but seemed rather disoriented. Eventually he threw a full-on (and kind of scary) seizure. Still in my mom's lap, so luckily she did not get bit or end up shredded by his claws. We figured that was it, the final death throes, but oddly he came back out of it and even the muscle jerks stopped after that. No better really than as of late, but he at least ended up seeming more lucid and again, I think, acted like he could see. Got him settled back down in his own bed and, after his brother finally got dinner, he was offered a bite to eat and actually ate pretty good. So go figure. My mom got the vet on the phone, five minutes before they were closing, unfortunately, but they did suggest that, being a diabetic cat that receives insulin, low blood sugar could actually cause those symptoms. So who knows... Not sure how long he'll stick around, but at least for the moment I guess he still has a little more time left on life #9. I'll feel bad for his brother though when we do lose him. Both of them are 15 (littermates), but his bother is still doing rather well for his age and I'm sure will be kind of lost without him for a while. |

Aww, so sorry to hear he's not doing well. Hope he gets better, or at least if he does go, that he does so peacefully. My prayers are with you and your kitty.

Thanks, though sadly we did take him to the vet this morning to have him put to sleep. Was just clear that this situation just isn't going to improve. Still with the heavy breathing, still unable to walk since yesterday afternoon. Hard to do, of course, but I'm glad he went as gently as he did. Better this way then possibly during another seizure.
Last pic I got of him (Booda, right) yesterday with his brother (Tim) curled up with him. (Earlier in the day before he crashed.) Didn't curl up together too often in their older age, though Tim did sit with him a bit these last few days. |

Minor gear grind, but I lost one of my little stick pins off my hat at work today- a movie pin for the Lion King live action movie we got when it came out. I found the back of it, but the pin itself has vanished. Also managed to leave behind my color-changing cup that one of our regular customers brought for me. She is one of the managers at Starbucks, and brought some of their cold drink cups for a bunch of us on the morning shift a few months ago. I accidentally left it in the cart when I was loading my groceries into mom's car in the rain today.

Sorry about your cat! I've been there, bit time. More than I'd like this year alone.

Side note, got a new potted plant today from the vet to add to a few others from them. Glad to see it's one we didn't have yet... Almost becoming a morbid "collect them all" thing. That's a cool pin, sorry you lost it, Duckie. (How the heck did the little pin back end up being the part that turned up... ) That's bad enough on eBay, but you seen the price of that 35 years NYCC TMNT exclusive pin? Wouldn't mind having one, but ouch, not at that price. Worst one asking for $50. >.< Those cool Zen Monkey ones aren't any better. (And their 2018 exclusive far worse.) God, they're just pins. She's doing great! Down to one bottle a day, eats solid food with the big cats, and plays with them. She nibbles my ears sometimes in bed.

Yeah these were special crew promotional pins, not just something you can buy in the store. Hence why I was so bummed, and probably why they are selling for so much on ebay. Aldo, I looked at the link, and those are not even the same ones. Cool, but the one I lost was cub Simba stepping in the pawprint, with the title underneath.
