That is my favorite of the iron-ons, and thankfully the easiest one to find. And by easy I mean only extremely difficult and not impossible like the others.

How many versions of the TMNT #1 rooftop cover pose are there?
TMNT Entity is currently on another review hiatus while I spend my time translating the next chapter of the TMNT III manga, so I usually just update with quickie "Awesome Turtle Pictures".
One of the ones I wanted to do, though, was a collection of every instance where the classic TMNT (Vol. 1) #1 rooftop cover pose was redone. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing any: TMNT Vol. 1 #1 first printing by Eastman and Laird TMNT Vol. 1 #1 PBBZ Printing by Laird (may be black and white version of TMNT #50) TMNT Vol. 1 #1 2009 Full Color Printing by Laird (may be recolor of TMNT #50) TMNT Vol. 1 #16 interior page by Mark Martin (may just be tracing TMNT #1 cover) TMNT Vol. 1 #50 by Laird TMNT Vol. 3 TPB cover by Frank Fosco TMNT Collected Movie Books cover by Imagi and Steve Jung Turtles Forever scene where the Mirage TMNT first appear and after everyone leaves Turtle Prime TMNT (IDW) #12 Cover A by Dan Duncan Nick TMNT cartoon intro sequence Any others? I'd like to include instances in the cartoons when the pose was struck, too. Besides the Mirage TMNT doing it in Turtles Forever, were there any other cartoon episodes that called back to that pose? Did the 4Kids or Nick TMNT ever do it in any episodes? Last edited by DrSpengler; 06-06-2013 at 08:56 AM. |

Both Mirage (2009) and IDW (2012) threw some color over the original art for their reprints, but other than that I think you covered them all.
EDIT: I guess Mirage just colorized the PBBZ reprint cover in '09.

There was a whole thread on this a while back, and there are definitely more. Off the top of my head, I know Frank Fosco did one do the Image TPB cover. Mark Torres and Ross Campbell each have one out there, but I don't think they were official covers. I think Dan Berger may have done an iteration too.
EDIT: Whoops, didn't see you has the Image cover listed already. EDIT 2: Ross Campbell http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...fe-d5tiypi.jpg SDCC 2012 Promo Comic http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51RgPDUWS9L.jpg Couldn't find the Mark Torres one, but I could have sworn I saw it somewhere...

There's also the mural thingy at Meltdown Comics in LA done by Kevin Eastman and Mark Bode.
http://www.ninjapizza.net/2011/11/co...wn-comics.html Edit: Just watched that video I linked to... Kevin Eastman comes across as a great guy in pretty much every interview i've seen/read. And i've always thought it pronounced Mark BOAD, not BODEE... Its like the Renet/Renee thing all over again for me!

The thread we had on this a few months back covered EVERYTHING. If someone can find that, we'd be in the clear.
At any rate, here's some recreations of the cover done by known TMNT artists. In order it's Mark Torres, a Mirage Jam consisting of (from left to right) Lawson, Eastman, Dooney, Laird, & Berger on inks, Dan Berger, James Silvani (designed a crap-ton of merch over the years including t-shirts, lunchboxes, etc.), & Jim Lawson. http://imgur.com/a/d62eZ

Thanks Powder and Discordia. Didn't know we had a thread a few months back; totally missed it.
I'll add all those to the pile! |

I just noticed these figures have crazy elongated necks. They may have been prototypes but it's still weird. They almost look like the NECA figures.

I remembered it was Tothenines who made the thread, so I went to his profile and clicked the "find all threads started by Tothenines" button. Success!

Awesome Powder. Thanks!
I think that sews up all the missing ones I need (didn't know about the Nick TMNT SDCC poster or the old iron-on and totally forgot about the IDW #1 Jetpack exclusive). I'm gonna stick to ones that are unique in some way, even if it's just a recolor or a rough. Got 24 images in all. Hmmm, some of these Awesome Turtle Picture quickies are as much work as a full article... |

I know there's an Eastman recreation somewhere that he sold on his site too, but I couldn't find it. I dunno if that's the kinda thing you'd find relevant here but yeah...

Awesome Turtle Picture #20: A cover so nice they made it twice! Then 20 more times.
Thanks everyone for helping me hunt down all those odds and ends! |

A nice tribute as always! Just two things to make note of- You said the action figures in that one mock-up were modified NECA toys but they're actually the current Playmates run (albeit altered in the neck area at the very least). & the other thing is that Dan Duncans other tribute isn't actually roughs but rather an IDW Limited art piece that came packed in with a hardcover collected book, done months after #12 came out.

I've always wondered this!! I'm building a rooftop to recreate this scene soon with my B&W Necas and I'm trying to figure out if I can pose him without looking too goofy or falling over without support.

Looking at some of those artist commission and con sketches collected at the end, you can tell that a lot of the guys were recreating the cover from memory given that a few of the Turtles are standing in different spots. Heh. |

I think that's true too, but at least with Ross', I know he intentionally switched up the turtles' positions for fun. Pretty neat, actually.

Nice work, Spengs. I think you probably "covered" everything!
