Babs rising above the Killing Joke isn't new to her character, only not many people remember the other times she got her 'revenge' on the Joker in pre-flashpoint or whatever, because I don't think anyone really wants to see it. That's not something sexist to say, it's just some goals should be that unattainable. Just as Peter couldn't save Gwen or Uncle Ben.

I don't see the problem in allowing Joker the ultimate victory, just as they shouldn't have taken Jason's murder away from him either, it makes Batman's world all that more unpredictable, vulnerable and dangerous...that lives can be affected, horrifically altered, all in the name of following Bruce along on the crazy ride that is his mission...the hope comes in rising above being wronged by your bully by becoming something bigger than his crime to your life. Babs might get to give him a recite here and there, but she can never put him away or put it behind her permanently, she can defeat him by simply growing into a stronger force opposed to him, turning his scar into a symbol. That's what Oracle represented for fans and more importantly, for the disabled and handicapped...you don't have to take this literally lying down

Babs walking again did more damage than being crippled ever did. She was representation for people who deserved the word "representation", and DC took that representation away from them.

So the Batgirl series ends so Barbara Gordon can become Oracle, but be able to walk? Just as Dick Grayson becomes himself once again I lose Batgirl...

It also states KGBeast was supposed to kill Nightwing? I thought he was supposed to injure him so he could be controlled by The Court of Owls?

She's already creating far less anticipation for the book by saying the only supporting character in the book is Eta and a couple of JL cameos...and that interview itself is incredibly short, she doesn't apparently have that much to say about it. Either she's saving a bigger reveal for Fandome, or she's treading water for a few months.

DC Comics, DC Universe Hit By Major Layoffs

The majority of staff of the streaming service DC Universe has been laid off, as has editor-in-chief Bob Harras and multiple other executives on the publishing side.
Monday's WarnerMedia layoffs have affected a significant number of high-level figures at comic book powerhouse DC, multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

Among those said to be losing their positions are editor-in-chief Bob Harris, senior VP of publishing strategy and support services Hank Kanalz, VP of marketing and creative services Jonah Weiland, VP global publishing initiatives and digital strategy Bobbie Chase, senior story editor Brian Cunningham, and executive editor Mark Doyle, who oversaw the rollout of the Black Label graphic novels. Jim Lee remains the CCO.

Roughly one third of DC's editorial ranks are being laid off, according to sources.

Insiders also say the majority of the staff of the streaming service DC Universe has been laid off, a move that had been widely expected as WarnerMedia shifts its focus to new streaming service HBO Max.

"DC Universe was DOA as soon as the AT&T merger happened,” said one source.

DC Universe launched in May 2018, and is home to live-action series such as Doom Patrol, Titans and Stargirl, as well as animated offerings including Young Justice and Harley Quinn. Some of those shows have now started to stream on HBO Max.

Also a victim of the layoffs: DC Direct, the company’s in-house merchandise and collectibles manufacturer. The division has been shuttered after 22 years, another move that was rumored when Warner Bros. Consumer Products began taking a more active role in DC merchandising.

A DC spokesperson declined to comment on the changes, which come less than two weeks before the planned Aug. 22 online event DC Fandome, which is set to showcase stars from DC's film, TV and comic book worlds.
