Hm... found chocolate chips with edible glitter, might throw them into some peanut butter cookies one of these days. I suppose I could try to jam a few cookies into an old plastic water bottle, seal it up and throw it into the river between our states. It'll get there when it reaches your banks and you fish it out. Though it might end up in the bay... maybe better to throw a net across the bay.

Sorry, I gave up scouts pretty early, whatever uniform might be in the attic stopped fitting like 35 years ago.

I think you should let the audience make that decision.
Failing that, I have some links to some fabulous garment-makers who specialize in tailoring for folks on a budget. If I'm fishing soggy stale glitter cookies out of the Delaware the least you could do is allow me this ONE minor indulgence. Otherwise, enjoy your one-star Yelp! review. |

Hmm I might consider it. There are still entire episodes and parts of seasons I haven't seen. Especially cause those back to back horror movie homage episodes or a full season in space were kinda tiring and I tuned out. And I never saw the final episodes.

Thought he was gonna do it, too....
I can turn a TMNT shirt inside out so it's just green. Take it or leave it. |

At this point we can skip the cookies, I'll just buy the outfit and send it overnight delivery, and you can come over with it on and smack me around a while.
It's okay, I deserve it. I'm a much worse person than you know! Spoiler:

Pretty sure those dogs would beg (literally) to differ on that "much worse person" comment. No worse person even has pets, let alone good dogs.
I'll stay over here, the gas still costs too much. But feel free to buy a foam sword from Dollar Tree and smack yourself with it once or twice until Dog-Hulk immediately takes it from you. |

I love lobbing you these underhand pitches just to see what you do with 'em. So far you never let me down.

I'm inclined to get this since it would free up some space on the shelf, but it'd probably have discs stacked on each other like the new set for the 80's cartoon.

Yeah if these were blu-ray sets I'd pre-order in a heartbeat but these are likely just re-releases of the same kids DVDs they released separately while the show was airing. So nothing special just repackaged.
I virtually never buy shows or movies but I'd make an exception in TMNT's case. I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a DVD. Maybe...2010 or so? |

None of the series have gotten a Blu-ray set, have they? Can't say I expected any different. How many "kids" shows end up on Blu-ray anyhow.
Though unless your tv is so huge that it actually needs Blu-ray resolution, I don't really see an issue with DVD. Heck, 2003 is stuck as the square box... but I'd likewise rather have it in some viewable form than not at all. |

Those were way more popular than Nick TMNT, though. And I think the Blu-rays came out way after the DVDs, which would indicate that the DVD sales led them to publish Blu-rays later on, which are probably more expensive to produce. At least I *think* that's the order of events, someone can correct me.
If Nick thought that the sales of TMNT Blu-rays would offset the manufacturing costs, they'd do Blu-rays and not DVDs. They don't think Blu-rays would sell enough, because as I keep trying to explain, TMNT isn't actually as popular as some people here swear it is. I guess there's always a chance that if these DVD sets sell a lot, a Blu-ray release would be forthcoming, but considering it took them half a decade to even do a DVD set I wouldn't hold my breath. They obviously don't think it's a draw. |

Considering the massive plans they have for TMNT next year, that's just not true. I don't understand why some TMNT fans keep pushing this narrative that TMNT isn't popular despite not only being one of the highest grossing media franchises but the simple fact that it's never been away long before some reboot is announced. It's a highly active franchise that both adults and children can recognize the same way icons like Batman and Superman are easily identifiable. Nickelodeon's mismanagement of the brand and the general stigma companies have against physical media releases as well as their mishandling of it doesn't really negate that either.

It has a very high Lifetime Batting Average, yes. Lifetime, as in from the FW cartoon's debut until now. MOST of that money and acclaim came between the years 1988 and 1992, and most of the revenue SINCE then has come from recycling the exact same material that was popular Then. Nothing "new" of TMNT past the mid-90s has truly taken off. Re-released FW material and stuff based on FW sells. The same video games that were popular in the 90s sells, and a game specifically built to remind you of those games sells. Newer games don't sell, they don't even make waves. The new cartoons haven't gotten much attention even at their peak. The Bay movies are only notorious for how awful they were.
I get what you're trying to say but there is very strong evidence that the only success the TMNT brand has enjoyed since the mid-90s is based on people's nostalgia for Classic Coke TMNT, not anything to come along since then. Put simply, people don't care about "TMNT" in the grand sense, they care about "The TMNT they liked when they were kids". THAT memory and iteration of TMNT is, was, and remains popular. "TMNT" as a whole, is NOT popular. If it was, people would react to and remember more than just The One Version. But that simply isn't the case and we've seen that for 25 years. Look at those "massive plans" for what's in the pipeline. More FW rehash. But regardless, and to the topic, the decision to release DVDs vs. Blu-rays is dollars and cents. They have "people" to study and project what's going to be most effective on a dollars spent vs. dollars earned ratio. If they thought enough people would buy a TMNT Blu-ray set for the Nick show, then they'd do one. The fact that they haven't means they simply don't have confidence in the product. They would know more about it than you or I, we're over here speculating but they actually have the hard data. It's like when the kid who played Sponge on Salute Your Shorts was trying to get that show on DVD, and Nick kept saying no. He went to them with online polls and message board posts and said "Look! People want this!" And Nick Corporate said, "Yeah, that means nothing, we have our own much more extensive and expensive research that tells us we'd lose money on making the set, so we're not going to." And that was the end of that. They also cancelled the release of the final Season of Pete & Pete AFTER they'd already manufactured it, because they found out that even just the cost of shipping them to stores would cost more than they'd ever make back through sales. "But People Want" isn't enough. It's a business. Last edited by Leo656; 09-22-2022 at 05:51 PM. |

This has to be a repackage. They don't still release shows on DVD do they? There's basically no DVD section at stores any more.
