As I'm sure you know, NECA has done plenty of "current" stuff. Guess they just wanna stick with what is a guaranteed sell.

Youch!

I think IDW tmnt has a pretty good rep in the current geek-world. Hopefully they reconsider. I hope they at least consider the Mirage tmnt as nostalgic.

I don't see this as ever, I see it as 'we have a **** ton of stuff in the pipe before we get to IDW'.

Hopes dashed. Guess I'll collect some IDW art for my wall instead.

NECA's TMNT line is still fairly new, and it seems like they've decided on what they're aiming for with it. But I'm confident that if it continues long enough (or even begins selling at retail) they'd eventually make some IDW figs. It's all just a matter of time and the amount of support they get.

After all, their Aliens and Predators lines started out with just figures based off the fims, and now they even make comic based figs. Like the recent Defiance Alien fig. The comic it's based off of came out a little while ago. And yet they made a figure based off it. Same could happen with TMNT.

NECAs TMNT license kinda sucks beyond doing passion projects since all 1/10th figures have to be Con exclusives. I don't see them deviating too much of what they've been doing. And I hope NECA won't spread themselves too thin on the TMNT property, Aliens/Predators are a big money property that makes it profitable to experiment, Turtles not so much as it is.

I'd rather see someone else do IDW figures, maybe Mezco. One:12 Turtles would have been awesome.

The main problem is that with the Alien figures they can release them in stores, while in case of the TMNT they can't. I don't see Playmates giving up on that.

It took a pretty significant hiatus.

"Fairly new" is an apt description of the return via con exclusives and formats that Playmates have no interest in.

Well, to be fair, most of us never thought we'd ever see another NECA TMNT figure after Playmates had a panic attack in 2009. I think 2016 can rightly be thought of as the start of NECA Generation 2 era of Turtles toys.

Playmates had a little freak-out when NECA's Turtles got really popular, even trying to make their own Mirage line that never went beyond prototypes of the Turtles, Splinter, Shredder and a Foot. They looked pretty bad to mediocre anyway.

Yeah, I definitely like those rejected prototypes better than the actual Mirage-style figures that Playmates finally released to retail.

Hmm....
Never seen these before. Compared to Playmates' usual trash they look pretty decent. But those are just stock images. If they had actually been made they almost definitely would've turned out bad, with loads of qc issues and horrible paint apps. It was probably for the best these weren't made.
