My mom passed away from ALS back in 2007 so I know what the Spongebob creater must have been going through. Praying for Hillenburg and his family.

Never watched Spongebob, so I didn't know who he was until today.

Still, sucks. May he rest in peace.

Ouch. That came out of nowhere. I did not know he was diagnosed with ALS. I know someone who was diagnosed last February. Needs a wheelchair, but retained his sense of humor up to this moment as a DJ/announcer.

It hurt to read his mother is still alive, even at 57 no mother should have to bury a child.

Doubt this will end Spongebob. Its a probably long out of his watchful eye and will become a legacy.

Remember seeing his name all the time at the intro's conclusion. Wonder how soon he knew his creation would be such a hit to so many children & children-at-heart. RIP Stephen Hillenburg.
