Empire Records

No real reason to start this thread other than to say I recently rewatched the movie for the 100th time or so... Still love this movie

It's amazing how such a generic teen flick from the 90s has managed to create and keep such a devout following. Seriously, I love the movie, but I still have a hard time understanding why when so many other movies do everything it does better. The soundtrack, maybe? 90s Nostalgia? The general feel-good nature of the film, perhaps?

In any case, just wanted to show it some love. Anyone else remember this movie?

It's all about Rex Manning Day.

I really, really, really hated this movie when I was a teenager because one of my sisters was obsessed with it, and would watch it over and over. I can't count how many Saturday mornings I woke up to the sound of Renee Zellweger screaming.

I never wanted to watch it again, but I was cajoled into it last year by my other sister. I guess I'm preaching to the choir, but I thought it was really good. I still think a lot of the characters are wankers, but I'd watch it again without hesitation. Amazing what 15 years can do to soften ones opinion.

The film is so-so, but it does have a tasty soundtrack.

It does, but its also shocking how many key songs in the movie didn't make it to the final soundtrack

It was a good movie. Not great, but good.

I'm pretty sure Rex Manning Day is April 10th in my world. I'm positive this is three years in a row where I go "Hey, that should be coming up soon..." to find out it was two days ago. Shenanigans I tell ya.

In any case, Happy (belated) Rex Manning Day!
