2012–2017 series continuity timeline
This is an attempt of making a timeline based on the 2012–2017 animated TV-series.
Circa 3-2000 BC: The turtles visit Ancient Egypt. 1300 AD: The turtles go to Transylvania fighting Dracula. 1818–1819 AD: The turtles go to Central Europe encountering Frankenstein. 1986–1989 AD: Ivan Steranko participates in the Iraq wars 1991–1997 AD: Ivan Steranko participates in the Yugoslavian Civil Wars. Early-1995 AD: Karai born. 1995 AD: Casey Jones born. 1996 AD: April O'Neil, and if she exists in this reality, human Irma born. Mid-1996 AD: The turtles travel back in time witnessing the rivalry between Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki. Hamato Yoshi later leaves Japan. Circa 1997 AD: Splinter and the turtles mutate. 1998–2001 AD: Ivan Steranko participates in the Second Congo War. 2001–2003 AD: Ivan Steranko participates in the Terror Wars in Iraq. 2012 AD: The turtles save teenage-girl April O'Neil from an extraterrestrials species known as the Kraang. They later face Shredder, who has just left Japan after watching the news. 2012-2013 AD: The turtles encounter Karai, and prevent a Kraang invasion of Earth, sending one of the Kraang's technodromes sinking into the water. 2013 AD: Ivan Steranko joins the Foot Clan. 2013-2014 AD: After a series of adventures, including learning of themselves in another reality, the turtles fail in stopping the Kraang from capturing New York City. 2014–2015 AD: The turtles spend autumn and winter at April O'Neil's family farmhouse in Northampton, Massachusetts. 2015 AD: The turtles return to New York City fighting another Kraang invasion, later to be saved by Fugitoid from Earth's destruction during the conflict between the Kraang and the Triceratons. 2015 AD: The turtles, April O'Neil and Casey Jones go on an outer space adventure with Fugitoid. Visting an alternate Earth also travelling back in time, they team up with themselves from the other reality against Krang. 2016 AD: Shredder kills Splinter throwing him from a rooftop, but the turtles avenge their sensei's death killing Shredder. Tigerclaw later ressurects Shredder's spirit. After visiting Edo-period Japan on an alternate Earth and doing some time travel around Halloween, the turtles again teamup with themselves from another Earth against Krang and the other Earth's Shredder. 2066: The turtles reunite in a possible future, where Leonardo has become a villain. Was it ever said in the future how many years earlier the mutagen bomb went off?

Did they go back in 1999? In Tale of the Yokai? just Karai was a baby but also born the same year as April. |

How does Splinter be both in New York as a mutated rat and in Japan at the same time?

The Turtles Went back in time to Japan, before Splinter and the turtles mutate. Because they saw Splinter human, Karai is a baby and Tang Shen is alive.
Casey Jones is older than April and about same age as Karai, so Karai and Casey Jones would of been born in 1995. The Turtles traveled in time to Japan in 1996 so between 1996 and 2012 is 16 years.

It's kind of funny how each TMNT series took place in the same years as real life at the time, like the original Turtle cartoon took place in the late 80's and early 90's. The 2k3 series took place in well....2003 and went on to about 2005 (in Fast Forward they said they jumped 100 years into 2105, meaning it was 2005 by the end of Season 4), and now Nick in 2012-2015 I suppose.

Most shows tend to take place around the time the show is airing.

That's why I thought it was 1996 and not 1999 that they went back to but that it depends on the year of the episode. That thing with time passing but the characters not aging again. It said on TurtlePedia, I think, that Karai was born in1996 and was 16. I won't loose sleep if that isn't accurate but that's what I thought. Last edited by newfan; 02-04-2018 at 12:17 PM. |

2016
I placed season 5 in 2016 because that year appears at Bebop's card.

Let's just say the show takes place in some anachronistic point in the 2010's, while any past or future point in the timeline is a rough estimate, m'kay? I don't think it's worth thinking about the timeline in this show too hard. It probably runs on Marvel time or that weird Futurama logic, in that time clearly moves forward but the characters don't seem to age regardless.

A lot of fiction just continues to write characters as being the same age throughout. If it ends up running for decades it's just more highlighted, doesn't matter if the show ran for five years or thirty, the issue of non-aging characters was still always there. Bart has been ten since 1987, the turtles were fifteen between 2012-2017, only difference here is scale.

There is literally zero evidence that there is/was a human Irma so I have no idea why you even included that.

Now you could say Sub-Prime replaced Rook at some point, and that Rook was sent out by the Utroms to protect April or something. There is zero evidence for that as well and would open more questions than it would answer, however, it is more plausible than there having been a human version of Irma. |

Which would absolutely defeat the purpose of being a spy....
