We were actually sharing the stage at SXSW last year; that guy can drink even Bill Burr under the table! It's unbelievable.

I mean, I'm only watching the show for her, but not because I wanna look at her body. Personality-wise, she's precious. Her dialogue and interactions with other characters are the only thing keeping me interested in the show.

Exactly this. Next to Grant Gustin's Flash, Melissa Benoist performance as Supergirl is my second fav portrayal for a major DC superhero. Which is all the more sad that there are no plans for a crossover between them in the near future.

To be honest, after all the angst and sexual frustration I watched Clark go through during his teen years on Smallville, I'm more than happy to welcome a little fluff into the mythos of these characters.

Two strikes so far. Hoping to give the third one a watch before giving my judgement.

I'm always intrigued when I see Max Lord show up. Doesn't seem like he has his "Mind Push" power here, at least not yet, as there were several instances where it would have come in handy and it didn't seem like it was even implied. Maybe later. Benoist in her outfit isn't the only reason to watch the show... but... it is the best reason. Sorry.

I'm a little disappointed in what I've seen from the early episodes. I'd like for a little bit more backstory to be given with these villains for those of us (like myself) who aren't familiar with them. Also, I don't like how Kara/Supergirl so willingly just takes orders from the "DEO" like she's one of their soldiers. I have no problem with her having them as allies and utilizing their resources though. But could you imagine if it were a Wonder Woman series, and she was so willingly taking orders from Steve Trevor.

Wonder Woman and Supergirl aren't the same character though. Wonder Woman wouldn't take orders because that's who she is, whereas Supergirl (especially in this show), is a young 20 something year old trying to prove she's just as good as Superman.
Supergirl is basically, "I am a woman and hear me roar, I am just as good as the boys!"" type of girl. Wonder Woman is already a seasoned fighter and leader. |

I mean it's fine, and it's expected. But they could bring it down to like a 6, maybe.

LOL, what. Saying "girl" is now anti-feminist according to this show. |

I'd be pissed too if I was Kara's age and they called me Superboy.

Hell when I worked at the airport in my early 20's, a lot of people called me "kid" when I was a fully grown adult. Then again all my co-workers were in their late 30's or early 40's, so to them a 20 something year old probably did seem like a kid. |

And then you'd be able to tell a lot about the person you're talking to by how they react to your request. Me personally, I don't answer to "girl," because I haven't been one in a very long time.

So are you bothered when full grown women use the term when referring to themselves, or even when they're referring to, or addressing other grown women? Like, when one says "the girls and I are hanging out this weekend".

Am I one of the women being referred to?

A lot of adult women do refer to their friends as their, "girl friends" not their, "women friends" so I don't see the problem.
I've seen adult woman refer to each other as girls all the time. Although I imagine its most common with 20 year olds than 30-40 year olds. Obviously 20 year olds don't want to be considered old and still see themselves as young. |
